2. I’ve been spending a lot of time researching eServices over the last few
months. One of the striking things about these jobs is that many of them
look exactly the same. Some require training or skills (e.g. Handy,
TaskRabbit), but most are marketed as a good way for normal people to
earn some money doing an unskilled task such as driving, shopping,
delivery, etc.
I thought it would be helpful to look at some job postings and see if/how
these companies are competing for a finite pool of labor, which is
becoming increasingly more competitive. I went to the NY-area job
websites for Uber, Lyft, Shyp, Instacart, Postmates, and Cleanly just to
see how they position themselves in supply-side recruiting.
The results: They all look the same. You either have a car or you don’t.
That’s pretty much it. I predict that we’ll see competition ramp up here
pretty soon.
