Successive tests of 9 combinations of tyres and vehicles:
7 on your own
2 as a passenger in specifics cars
You will drive 2 laps in each test

Objective of this workshop:
get you to feel how racing spirit and technology can be found in a sport
tyre when driving on a road
5. Workshop 1 - From track to street
In a Porsche or an Audi,
you are going to test:
• A racing model equipped
with MICHELIN racing tyres
• A sport type model
(Porsche GT3, Audi R8 V10) equipped
with MICHELIN Pilot Sport Cup+ tyres
• A series model equipped
with MICHELIN Pilot Sport tyres

Transfer of technology: 2 examples in figures
• Maximum speed: 330 km/h at Le Mans, and 350 km/h
to 431 km/h on Supersport vehicles!
• Longevity: 5 relays at Le Mans (or 750 km), 30.000 km
on road
Grip/safety: lap time, grip on dry and wet
ground

Tuning specialist
Objective of this workshop:
Illustrate the effect of the change in dimensions
(diameter of wheel, width of wheel; sidewall height,
width of wheel flange) or tyre line carried out in tuning
on the vehicle’s performances

The objective of this workshop:
get you to feel the key role of tyres on sports
cars’ performances
How? You are going to compare on a Porsche 997 GTS:
• A MICHELIN racing slick tyre
• A tyre that is fully road legal but built for track use

• The Supersport that is Porsche’s reference tyre
=> MICHELIN Pilot Sport PS2

• Driving position
• Your safety belt must be tied
• Headlamps must be switched on
• Check out the number of your starting box
• Turn on your left indicator before driving off
• Speed restriction: 60 km/h
• Departure from pit every 10 seconds
17. Driving session : safety
Drive at your pace and your level
Do not worry about looking at your rear
mirror, keep your trajectory
Leave your ideal trajectory to overtake
Respect safety distances between cars
Respect braking zones, materialised by
cones

You are the passenger of your instructor

19. Coming back from Test Driving
• Speed capped at 60 km/h and right indicator on
• Go to your starting box
• Park in forward gear
• Parking position without the hand brake on and stop the
engine
• Go to the following car via the walking zone, on the right
side of the pit
• Don’t forget anything in the car you have used!
