He began his career posting original videos on YouTube and landed his breakout role on the MTV series Teen Wolf playing Stiles Stilinski from 2011 to 2017. The success of Teen Wolf led O'Brien and his family to move to Los Angeles to further his acting career. He is known for his leading role in the Maze Runner film series which grossed over $340 million globally. O'Brien also participates in philanthropic initiatives supporting LGBTQ rights and providing clean drinking water in Africa.
