Native American teepees were made from bison skins or birch bark stretched over 10-12 wooden poles arranged in a conical shape. They were assembled using ropes and simple hand tools. Teepees had smoke flaps at the top to control cooking fires and provided shelter, staying cool in summer and warm in winter due to insulating liners. However, teepees would not work well today due to lack of resources and more complex housing needs.
