The development of imod was triggered by the need for effective groundwater management among various stakeholders with conflicting administrative boundaries. Initiated in 2005, imod aimed to facilitate collaboration and modeling across large areas while ensuring high-resolution data handling and performance. This approach allows for the generation of expandable sub-domain models consistent with larger models, enhancing cooperative groundwater management.
