Role Overview
A senior Drupal and open source web technology specialist to play a lead solution and
technology role in a fast emerging Drupal team, and within a broader eBusiness practice.
Bringing the best of the Drupal and open source web development technologies and approaches
to some of the largest Enterprise companies in Europe - helping them to shape, deliver and
evolve truly innovative and forward-looking eBusiness technology platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Working with clients on web technology strategies, design designs and delivery programmes.
For example:
· Work with the senior IT staff of the client to define the future vision for their web
platforms, using open source web technologies.
· Define technical architectures for web platform delivery programmes, and define the
consequential guidelines and standards for development and site building teams to use
· Give advice on system development, project management methodology, and open source-
based infrastructure best practices
· Guide and delegate work for developers and site builders in delivery programmes, and
hands-on deliver solutions some of the more complex or valuable aspects of the solution within
a delivery
Acting as the web development and platform technology SME (Subject Matter Expert) in
eBusiness sales/proposal cycles, or pure Drupal Web Solution sales cycles.
Participating in bid workshops, recommending solutions, presenting proposed solutions to

2. prospective clients, contributing content to proposals.
Other Responsibilities
Taking an active leadership role in the Company Drupal community throughout the Company’s
UK, and beyond that globally. For example, leading key capability development, knowledge
management and research exercises across the community, and mentoring less experienced
members of the community
Proposing, defining and developing propositions in the open source web technology and
platform area that the Company should be offering to its clients and to the market as
opportunities or technology innovations arise, and directing the development of the Company
products/tools, intellectual property or other assets across projects and sectors.
Key Domain Skills / Experience
· Minimum 3-4 years developing Drupal solutions, with experience working in consulting-
like environments.
· Web Technologies and Platforms
· Solid understanding of the overall Drupal technology architecture
· Experience with Drupal Site Design, Planning and Implementation
· Experience with Drupal Development and Module Designing and Building
· Good knowledge of how to build high-performance, highly scalable technology platforms.
· Will likely have a mixture of self-educated awareness and first-hand experience with
multiple web content management systems and multiple web development platforms, and
multiple open source technologies
· Will have a point-of-view on their respective merits and the suitable use cases for many
technologies
· Good knowledge of PHP, MySQL, Linux, CSS, JavaScript, and SVN/Git/Bazaar… however
we're not looking for the world's top expert in these technologies. We'd rather have someone
who doesn’t know the answer to every problem, but is absolutely confident that he or she can
find an answer in a short amount of time.

3. · Will have good technical knowledge of the major open source technologies involved in
LAMP, and those related (E.g. Squid/Varnish, Memcache, Browser Support, AJAX/JQuery etc)
· Will have points of view on emerging web-relevant technologies (e.g. Cloud and AWS,
NOSQL, RDFa etc)
· Will have an awareness and opinions on emerging technology trends on the internet and
in modern society such as social networking, social media, web 2.0, smartphones etc

· Experience of Large Scale Web Site Infrastructure Design
· Experience of Agile Project Methods and Tools, and Structure Methods and tools
· Experience of Open Source technologies in multi-environments projects (development,
test, staging, production, etc.)
· General Web Platform Knowledge
Experience with Web Site Content migration (desirable)
Experience with Web Site Tagging and Analytics (desirable)

Key Consulting Skills / Experience
· Excellent communication skills are a must.
· Enjoys defining and building solutions, yet also has performed a fair amount of project
experience (and extremely comfortable with what it takes to define a project).
· Will possess the ability to clearly articulate the pros and cons of technology choices and
solution design decisions, and to construct and present rational options to clients and
prospective clients on the options they have
· Well read on the latest happenings in the industry, able to think strategically about a
