The Modi government considers drug addiction a major challenge and has implemented a three-pronged zero-tolerance strategy on drugs involving coordination among organizations, strong organizational structure, and awareness campaigns. Key aspects of the strategy include strengthening the NCORD mechanism for cooperation, reforming the Narcotics Control Bureau, creating a narco-related national database, and conducting a public awareness campaign. The results of these efforts include a 100% increase in drug seizure cases and a 152% increase in the number of cases against those involved in drug trade since 2014.
