This document discusses evidence-based approaches to minimize health disparities among teenagers related to drug and alcohol addiction. It identifies competence enhancement, family-based prevention, and community-based prevention as key approaches. Competence enhancement equips teenagers with skills to resist drugs, family-based prevention gives parents tips to handle teenagers, and community-based prevention creates awareness of dangers through community leaders and parents. Additional approaches discussed are normative education, social resistance skills training, and school-based prevention programs.
