Law enforcement in Texas and DriveSavers Digital Forensics used Cellebrite UFED Physical Analyzer to extract data from a badly waterlogged iPhone belonging to a murder victim. This helped prove that the suspect had sent himself fake text messages to make it appear the victim recanted her rape accusation. Without recovering the data, prosecutors could not prove premeditated murder for a capital case. The extraction identified that the victim did not send messages recanting her story and that the suspect lured her to her death.
