Addergoole's Titanic Salmon, A Young Child's Modern Fable Lahardane
One cold March evening in 2014 Paul Nolan, Chairman of the Addergoole Titanic Society in North West Mayo, told a strange and captivating story as we were standing in the street of Lahardane Village, the main village in the parish of Addergoole; the parish with the largest proportionate loss in the world when RMS Titanic, the largest and most luxurious passenger ship, sank with a huge loss of life, on its maiden voyage on 15th April 1912 after hitting an iceberg some four hours previously.
What happened in this historic tragic event; the world’s largest moveable object met the world’s largest tin opener, the tin opener won. There were 2,201 crew and passengers, but only 690 were saved.
Now Read Paul's Titanic fable and most of all enjoy it!

This is a project we had to do for world history class. We pretend we won a dream trip from a magazine and we get to go to any 4 places in the world. At those 4 places, we can make 3 stops. We have to make a postcard for all 4 stops describing the 3 events we did when we were there.

ARE YOU SLOW?
As we age, we tend to slow down or think that we are slow. But do you feel that you’re slow? Is time passing more quickly, or are you slowing down some? And, are you “got passed by a guy pushing a wheelbarrow” slow? I found out I was.

Dear Chloe,
I have had so much fun in Italy! There was so
much to do! The first place that I went to was the
Leaning Tower of Pisa! In real life it is so amazing.
The fact that it hasn’t fallen down yet when it
literally is slanted is awesome! After that I went to
the Colossuem and as you know the first Olympic
Games were here, and when I went into it, I was
honored to be in a place where great athletes and
very important people had been in. The Pantheon
was amazing! There was lots of shops and stores
around it were I bought lunch and ate with some
of my friends! We admired the amazing structure
of the Pantheon, we were definitely glad that we
had came there.

Dear Erika,
After I went to Italy I flew to Germany. I had so much
fun! The first place that I went to was the Brandenburg
Gate. This was very beautiful and I really liked it. The
Brandenburg Gate was a city gate and it was rebuilt in
the 18th century . My favorite thing was the architecture
of the Brandenburg Gate because it was very elaborate
and unique. This is definitely something I won’t forget!
The next stop that I went to was the Cologne Cathedral.
The outside of it was amazing and beautiful! The
Cologne Cathedral was started to be built in 1248 and
then stopped and then restarted around the 19th
century. The Cologne Cathedral was finished in 1880.
My last stop in Germany was the Fernsehturm, there
wasn’t much to do here but during the night they light it
up and it looks very cool! It was built between 1965 and
1969. I wish you were here with me!

Dear Briana,
This week I went to Jamaica! I had so much fun
there! Since I had to travel from Germany to
Jamaica, the first thing I did was relax on the
amazing Reggae Beach. The water was beautiful
and bright blue. I wish I could’ve stayed longer at
the beach but I had other things to do. The second
place I went to was Dunn’s Rivers Falls. This was a
water fall that you could go and ride down. Even
though the water was cold it was so much fun to
go down the falls. The last place that I stopped
was Martha Brae River, this was awesome! As you
see in the picture a person would stand on the
front of the rowing raft and then you would sit on
the back. You pretty much relax while they row
you around the river. Hope to see you soon!

Dear Maddie,
I have had so much fun on this trip! Although this is
my last stop it was so fun! I am in Zimbabwe and
the first thing I did when I got there was go to the
balancing rocks! They were beautiful! I cant believe
that they can actually balance on top of each other.
The next stop that was fairly close to the rocks was
Matobo National Park. This park was full of animals
that I had never seen before like lions and giraffes
and zebras! This was my favorite part of Zimbabwe
because I love animals! My last stop in Zimbabwe
was AMAZING it was Victoria Falls! The falls were
beautiful and I can’t believe that I actually got to
go! As you see in the picture they are a place that I
will never forget because of how beautiful they
are. Well I’m on my way home now from an
awesome trip and I can’t wait to talk to you about
it!

Olivia
