1. ST.MARY'S UNIVI:RSITY

To Whom It May Concern:
Please accept this letter of recommendation for Mr. Stephan Hardt.
I have been associated with Mr. Hardt for two years. Stephan was an engineering
management major at St. Mary's University who also took several business courses.
As a result, I had Stephan in a principIes of accounting class at St. Mary's University.
Stephan was an excellent student. He was prompt and regular in attendance. He
regularly completed assignments on time and with a high degree of accuracy. He
performed well on examinations. He contributed substantially to the quality ofthe
course for all involved through his willingness to ask questions about the more
complex and difficult material. Stephan was also courteous and polite and interacted
well with his peers.
Ihave also been associated with Stephan through a student organization as St. Mary's,
iStar [r. Consulting. Stephan had the idea to start a student organization that would
give engineering, business, and other interested students the opportunity to do
practical consulting projects while they were still in school. Through his initiative
and leadership, a number of students did join together to form iStar, which is now a
registered student organization at St. Mary's University, with Stephan as the founding
president. Students in the organization have already successfully completed
consulting projects for various programs and offices on campus at St. Mary's
University.
I consider it a remarkable accomplishment that Stephan was able to organize and
register iStar in a relatively short time period. Normally, these types of organizations
are the result of faculty and/or departmental efforts to create organizations for
majors, or they are the result of permanent professional and/or fraternal
organizations starting and supporting student chapters. Stephan inspired a stutlent
initiated effort to create an organization that will provi de service to the university as
well as provide valuable learning experiences for students. It is an example ofhis
outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
