The music industry faces major effects with illegal downloading of music. So many people today are trying to find the cheapest way to get their
favorite music, by their favorite artist, so they can listen to them from their phones or mp3 players; therefore, it is reducing the amount of music that
will hit the market. There are many new devices and technology that are used to download music illegally that makes it harder on the music
industry. Illegal music downloads lower the revenue and profits because they potentially change the structure of the industry. Illegal downloading
can affect the artists because they are not getting paid for their talent and songs they have written. The music industry has a problem with
advanced technology that is allowing people to obtain music for free. I found that CDs are not the best source of income anymore. CDs are still
one of the leaders in the music industry; even passing the increasingly online music downloads. Nevertheless, the sales of CDs have dropped
millions and were sold in 2008, which was down almost 20 percent from the previous year, about 84 percent of all album purchases were CDs, and

Recently, Downloading films illegally has increased significantly . Nowadays, the number of people who download films is increasing for many
reasons. One of the issues that should be considered and deterred in our societies is illegal downloading because it affects many aspects in this

Well the truth is if you get caught downloading or uploading music protected by copyright there are some major consequences. Consequences for

These trends are not confined to European or American music markets. Baidu, China's largest online search company, recently signed a deal with
rights holders to license music on its website for both free download and streaming (Hille, 2011). The surge in popularity has led some to believe that
the digital music market represents the recording industry's next sustainable business model, along with diversification into live events and
merchandise. However, relatively little is understood about the consumer who uses a combination of legal and illegal sources to acquire music a la
carte. In the decade prior to the Internet, the music industry was relatively healthy overall with worldwide sales peaking in 1998 (Baym, 2010). Since
then, peer–to–peer (P2P) networks such as Napster have contributed to the decline in sales of CDs. There is some disagreement about the extent to
which file sharing has negatively impacted the recording; however, evidence points to copyright infringement as a significant factor. The digitalization

In the fall of 2001, I started a band with three of my friends called Off and On. Through the Internet, we accumulated fans in nearly every state
before we even played a real show. When we did finally release a four song demo, we made even more fans thanks to MP3.com, a website that
streams your songs free of charge. Up to that point, the Internet was our best friend. Without any paid advertising or promotion, we went from no
fans to many. Purevolume.com has replaced MP3.com as the main provider for unsigned bands, and even some signed bands, who want new
listeners. The problem with illegal downloading starts at this exact moment in a band's existence. When the band decides that they want to make a
profit off of their material, many kids who have grown up in the information age still feel that they are entitled to anything the band releases. They
will either burn the CD from a friend or download illegally. Both are new concepts and neither helps the band directly. (Future CD sales and possible
