The document discusses different types of photography and whether post-production techniques should be added. It examines applications such as advertising, promotional, fashion, photojournalism, portraiture, high street studio, architectural, documentary, illustration, and medical photography.
For each application, the document considers whether post-production should be allowed and to what extent. It provides reasoning for each stance. Generally, it argues that applications aiming to portray true representations, such as photojournalism and medical, should not use post-production techniques. Applications aiming to attract consumers, such as advertising and fashion, can use post-production more freely.
The document also analyzes some example images and evaluates the post-production techniques used.

This document provides a summary and analysis of Descartes' use of the skeptical strategy in Meditation I. It discusses how Descartes aims to doubt all his beliefs in order to establish certainty. It analyzes Descartes' arguments about sense perception, dreaming, mathematics, and the evil demon. It also examines whether Descartes successfully brought sense, imagination and reason into doubt. Finally, it discusses how Descartes realized he cannot doubt his own existence since he is a thinking being.
Carotid artery stenosis refers to atherosclerotic narrowing of the carotid arteries. While a correlation between stenosis level and stroke risk is expected, the relationship is unclear. Carotid artery stenosis is variably defined as 60-99% or 50-99% narrowing. Screening for carotid artery stenosis can be done with neck auscultation or ultrasound, but both have limitations in sensitivity and specificity compared to angiography. Noninvasive imaging techniques like ultrasound and MRI are better options for screening and diagnosis of carotid artery stenosis.
Scrummaster Needed Desperately at LAST Conf 2016 in Melbourne, AustraliaBernd Schiffer
There is a lot of reluctance within organisations to place ScrumMasters, let alone to spend money to hire them. Surely this role can be done by one of the developers, right? After all, it’s only a minor role, isn’t it? Far from it! The ScrumMaster is a full-time role. Without it, who can take care of the agile process on behalf of a busy Scrum team?
One way to help teams and management understand the value of the ScrumMaster’s role is to show them the volume and importance of tasks a ScrumMaster can fulfil, and the consequences of what happens if nobody takes care of these tasks. This session not only presents the 42 tasks of a ScrumMaster’s role but will clearly show that every Scrum team needs a ScrumMaster.
Resource Pools - How is This Still a Thing? at LAST Conf 2016 in Melbourne, A...Bernd Schiffer
A surprising amount of companies is still using antiquated techniques like resource pools. Not only are they costly, but also hinder productivity and effectiveness. Business people wait for weeks and months to get a 20-minute job done? Not uncommon with resource pools.
Feature teams, on the other hand, do have certain characteristics providing the organisation to get things done big time: supported by product owner and team facilitator, self-organised and cross-functional, stable, dedicated, and proactive.
This session shows a path from resource pools to feature teams via self-selection of teams, including common fears and doubts during this culture-changing journey.
Doppler ultrasound of A-V access for hemodialysisSamir Haffar
This document discusses Doppler ultrasound evaluation of arteriovenous (A-V) access for hemodialysis. It begins with an overview of normal Doppler ultrasound findings of the upper extremity arteries and veins. It then covers preoperative ultrasound vascular mapping to determine suitable sites for A-V access creation. The document reviews the different types of A-V accesses used for hemodialysis and the normal Doppler ultrasound findings of functioning A-V accesses. It also discusses routine surveillance of asymptomatic patients and complications that can be identified with Doppler ultrasound of A-V accesses.
This document discusses the principles of Doppler ultrasound. It begins with a brief history of Doppler and how the Doppler effect was discovered. It then covers the basic physics of Doppler ultrasound including the Doppler equation. The remainder of the document discusses specific Doppler parameters and how to optimize the Doppler examination including:
- Adjusting spectral and color Doppler parameters
- Normal arterial and venous flow patterns
- Changes in flow related to stenosis
Doppler ultrasound of carotid arteriesSamir Haffar
This document discusses Doppler ultrasound of carotid arteries. It begins with the anatomy of carotid arteries and then discusses normal Doppler ultrasound findings of the carotid arteries including flow patterns and spectral waveforms. It describes various pathologies that can cause carotid artery disease such as atherosclerosis and other non-atherosclerotic diseases. It also discusses how diseases outside the carotid arteries can affect them. The document provides detailed information on ultrasound techniques for evaluating the carotid arteries and interpreting ultrasound findings for plaque characterization and grading stenosis.

Doppler Effect
