Video Game Collection @ Your Library
The document discusses the Park Ridge Public Library's decision to start a video game collection and the challenges involved in implementing it. The Mobile Youth Net Project sends daily SMS messages to 500 Brazilian youth about job opportunities, cultural events, sports activities, and free services. The messages aim to benefit low-income youth aged 17-24 who live in poor communities. Over 56,000 messages were sent in the first 6 months, providing information about 3,520 opportunities. Survey results found that 64% of youth used the information and 47% applied for jobs or interviews listed in the messages. The project was recognized globally for using mobile phones to enable social and economic opportunities for youth.
