Political donors see cities as critical to the future of the country and economic growth. While donors are somewhat optimistic about cities' futures over the next five years, most see cities as having declined over the past five years due to issues like poor leadership, poverty, and job loss. Donors believe strongly that addressing problems in cities is important and that urban and suburban economies are closely intertwined, as are urban and national economies. Over half of donors support increased investment in cities.
