This document analyzes international news reporting through an institutional approach. It finds that a comprehensive model of international news content can reasonably be based on the logic of appropriateness and government by publicity. News prominence and source organizations matter - there is evidence that some organizations show dependency on the executive branch while others do not. The institutional framework considers news content as both an antecedent and effect of media legitimacy needs and political influences.
