1. To divide a 4-digit number by a 2-digit number: divide the numbers and write the quotient above the division bracket, then multiply the divisor by the quotient and write it below the divided number. 2. Subtract the multiplied number from the divided number to get the remainder, which indicates how many were left over. 3. Repeat the process bringing down digits from the divided number to get the full quotient and remainder.
