Abstract: There are many persistence frameworks on Google App Engine. Google has its low-level datastore API, then there are standards based frameworks like JPA and there are more frameworks like Objectify-Appengine specifically for Google App Engine. Managing persistence is still a challenge. With so many options, we face the dilemma of choosing right framework for the application we are building.
Objectify-Appengine extends the convenience of NoSql by providing a Hibernate-style mapping layer between your application and GAE datastore. In this session I will cover handling persistence on Google App Engine with Objectify-Appengine. At one hand Google datastore API is low level and at the other there are standard based frameworks like JPA/JDO. Objectify-Appengine tries to hit the sweet spot between the two.

Displaying additional image types in XMetaL
This document discusses how to customize XMetaL to display non-native image types using ActiveX viewer controls. It provides examples of adding an <OCXReplacement> element to the CTM file to associate a viewer control with an image element, and writing macros like _OnInitialize and _OnSynchronize to initialize the control and handle events. These customizations allow XMetaL to display additional image formats by using third-party ActiveX controls.
Dropping content isn't a drag!
Raise your hand if you've heard this before: Can I drag and drop (or paste) content from somewhere else into XMetaL? The answer is a qualified "yes" -- it can be done, but if the stuff being dropped is not already plain XML, someone has to write some script to make it happen. (That someone is you, the XMetaL customizer.) The stickiest part of the problem is transforming the dropped data into valid XML. But in addition to that, you need to know the mechanics of processing these user actions in XMetaL. In this webinar we will leave aside the "transformation" part of the problem, and focus on the XMetaL APIs for detecting and handling user drop/paste events and inspecting and accessing the user's data from the clipboard.

XMetaL Macros for Non-Programmers
Macros are the basic unit of extensibility for XMetaL. A macro consists of some script code plus a small amount of metadata -- such as a name and hotkey -- which then becomes an executable action that XMetaL will perform for you. We will provide an introduction to XMetaL macros, including an overview of the different types of macros that you can write, and some examples of simple macros that you can use to enhance the XMetaL environment. Even though we will look at real script code, you do not need scripting/programming experience to understand this introductory webinar ... but we do secretly hope that you'll be tempted to try some afterwards!
Deploying Schemas and XMetaL Customization Files
Derek Read discusses how XMetaL locates schemas, customization files, and other resources needed for document editing. It first looks in the same folder as the schema, then in default installation folders, and will auto-generate files if they are not found. Complex customizations may involve multiple files packaged together, such as in a XAC file. The XMetaL Developer tool assists with debugging the lookup process. Questions about specific CMS integrations should be directed to the CMS provider.
Taking Advantage of XMetaL’s XInclude Support
In XMetaL Author 6.0 we introduced “Support for modular XML documents via W3C XInclude”. Beyond the checkbox on the marketing datasheet, what does this support really mean for partners and customers? As an XMetaL implementer, you can provide your end users with new content reuse capabilities. Power Grid Model
The global energy transition is placing new and unprecedented demands on Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Alongside upgrades to grid capacity, processes such as digitization, capacity optimization, and congestion management are becoming vital for delivering reliable services.
Power Grid Model is an open source project from Linux Foundation Energy and provides a calculation engine that is increasingly essential for DSOs. It offers a standards-based foundation enabling real-time power systems analysis, simulations of electrical power grids, and sophisticated what-if analysis. In addition, it enables in-depth studies and analysis of the electrical power grid’s behavior and performance. This comprehensive model incorporates essential factors such as power generation capacity, electrical losses, voltage levels, power flows, and system stability.
Power Grid Model is currently being applied in a wide variety of use cases, including grid planning, expansion, reliability, and congestion studies. It can also help in analyzing the impact of renewable energy integration, assessing the effects of disturbances or faults, and developing strategies for grid control and optimization.
