A 2-hour collaborative learning
experience for NSTP 1 students (CAE)
Objective
• Students will demonstrate knowledge of
disaster awareness, preparedness, and
management through collaborative role-
playing scenarios, fostering critical thinking,
teamwork, and practical application of skills.
Activity Outline
• Duration: 2 Hours
• 1. Preparation (15 Minutes)
• 2. Role-Play Execution (75 Minutes)
• 3. Debriefing & Evaluation (30 Minutes)
Preparation Phase
1. Divide the Group into 5 Teams
- Team 1: Earthquake
- Team 2: Flood
- Team 3: Typhoon
- Team 4: Fire
- Team 5: Landslide
2. Assign Roles Within Each Team:
- Incident Commander (Leader)
- Safety Officer
- Communication Officer
- First Aider
- Logistics Manager
- Evacuation Coordinator
- 4 Team Members as Community Residents
3. Distribute Resource Kits
Role-Play Execution (75 Minutes)
Phase 1: Disaster Strike (25 Minutes)
- Teams act out their disaster scenarios focusing on immediate
response and safety.
- Simulated challenges per disaster type.
Phase 2: Management & Reflection (20 Minutes)
- Teams address resource allocation, first aid, and rebuilding
efforts.
Phase 3: Presentation (30 Minutes)
- Teams present their response, challenges, and lessons learned.
Simulated Challenges
Examples of Challenges:
- Earthquake: Search for injured individuals amidst
simulated debris.
- Flood: Organize an evacuation to higher ground
using a map.
- Typhoon: Set up a community shelter and
distribute supplies.
- Fire: Evacuate a burning building using role-play
props.
- Landslide: Clear debris and assist in first aid.
Debriefing & Evaluation (30
Minutes)
1. Group Discussion (15 Minutes)
- Key takeaways: preparation, communication,
teamwork, and leadership.
2. Peer Feedback (10 Minutes)
- Constructive comments on other teams'
performance.
