The direct selling industry in India is expected to grow substantially over the next decade, reaching INR 3,40,000 million by 2019-20 according to a new report. Key findings of the report include that the industry grew 22% in 2011-12 to INR 63,851 million and is projected to reach INR 1,08,436 million by 2014-15. The number of distributors grew 25% in 2011-12 to approximately 50 lakhs. Wellness products contribute the largest portion of sales at 44%. The industry aims to further its growth through social media outreach and addressing regulatory challenges to curb fraudulent schemes.
