2. Dignity of Labour Once a man named Hari went to a saint and begged for food. The saint asked,’What do you have in your house?’ Harireplied,`I have a blanket that is only big enough to cover my body and spread as a sheet. I also have a leather water bag.’ The saint told him to go home and bring both the items. Hari brought the items to the saint. The saint asked the people present there, ‘Who will buy these?’ One man said. ‘I will take them for one rupee.’ Another man offered two rupees. The saint took the money and gave it to Hari who then bought food with one rupee and an axe with the other. The saint told Hari to cut wood with the axe, sell it and meet him after one week. After a week, Hari had earned 20 rupees. He was very happy. The saint kept his hand on his shoulder and said, ‘You look happy because labour has DIGNITY but begging brings shame !
3. What is DIGNITY ???????? Dignity of labour indicates that you respect all types of jobs equally and do not feel that one job is superior to the other.
4. What is manual labour ??????? Tilling of land or carrying a load is manual labour.
5. What is intellectualor mental labour ????????? When one writes a book, it is known as intellectual or mental labour. Whether one makes a world famour painting or an earthen pot to store water, it requires mental altertness and creativity.
