Digital switching technology evolution

This picture shows in a simplified way the evolution of digital switching technologies in a 43-year time span. CSEL LABS TDM prototypes are compared to today IP routers. The TDM technology of years '80s is still in operation in the telecom network of years 2010's even if the TDM switch decommissioning has started from the core network.
