Iran held presidential elections on June 12th, 2009. The results showed incumbent president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad winning re-election with over 60% of the vote, though his main challenger Mir-Hossein Mousavi and his supporters have disputed the results. Large protests have occurred across Iran in the aftermath of the election, with Mousavi's supporters alleging vote rigging and demanding a recount.

New Policies Needed to Reduce the Global Burden of Ageing Related PathologiesIndia Future Society
This document discusses the need for new policies to address the global burden of age-related diseases. It notes that longevity research is highly specialized across different countries. It also shows that non-communicable diseases account for a large share of deaths globally, especially in higher income countries, and this share is projected to increase further by 2030. The document advocates for three main policy changes: 1) increasing funding for research on the biology of aging, 2) providing beneficial regulation for biotechnologies aimed at preventing aging, and 3) reforming clinical trial processes to make them less costly and better support the development of preventive medicines and anti-aging interventions.

Political advantages and dangers of a world with or without life extension fo...India Future Society
Political advantages and dangers of a world with or without life extension for (almost) everybody by Dr Didier Coeurnelle on 5th October Sunday at International Online Longevity Day Conference.
Siddartha S Verma organized the 2014 International Online Longevity Day with speakers from several countries. He also attended the IFA Global Conference on Aging in Hyderabad, India where he met with longevity researchers and received business cards. Developments in the longevity field include initiatives by Mark Zuckerberg, Google, and Stephen Wolfram focusing on extending the human lifespan through science and technology. Several conferences and organizations around the world are also working to promote healthy aging and life extension research.
This document discusses mind uploading as a potential way to achieve longevity. It outlines three key reasons that have led people to consider mind uploading: computer games that allow virtual experiences, pornography, and a desire to live forever with fewer diseases. The document then examines how mind uploading could help with longevity by eliminating trauma, diseases, and risks of the physical body. It notes that while mind uploading could allow the mind to live on permanently, the physical brain and neurons will eventually die. It considers uploading the mind to a permanent medium as a solution.
We are responsible for shaping our future through the application of science and technology. While scientific progress is accelerating, cultural, social, and legal systems are lagging behind, which can cause conflicts over new technologies. As our capabilities increase, so too does our responsibility to ensure technologies are developed and applied safely, ethically, and for the benefit of all humanity. We must thoughtfully consider issues like life extension, human enhancement, and artificial intelligence to guide progress in a way that respects human rights and dignity. Overall, we need new cultural paradigms that embrace ongoing change and allow society to reap the full benefits of scientific knowledge.
The Future cannot be Predicted: It can be Objectively StudiedIndia Future Society
The document discusses the importance and methodology of objectively studying the future through scenario planning, even though the future cannot be predicted with certainty. It recommends using evidence-based approaches like analyzing historical trends and patterns as well as current developments to derive possible future scenarios and timelines. This allows for proactive planning, target setting, and innovation to prepare for changes, enable positive outcomes, and mitigate negatives. However, studying the future is challenging due to human tendencies to be irrational, biased, idealistic, selfish, and speculative rather than objective.
This document provides information about the India Future Society (IFS) and an upcoming Future Day event. It lists the founding team members and advisory board of IFS. IFS focuses on emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, genetics, nanotechnology, and radical life extension. It aims to spread awareness of future technologies and their benefits. IFS has conducted past events on longevity and the future, and Future Day will take place in multiple cities worldwide to celebrate efforts to create a better future.
The Global Future 2045 congress in New York City discussed a new strategy for human evolution proposed by the 2045 Initiative. The strategy aims to address global challenges by developing technologies like brain-computer interfaces and android bodies to eventually allow the transfer of human consciousness to artificial carriers. This would reduce suffering and extend healthy lifespans, allowing humanity to pursue greater spiritual, cultural and technological advancement. The congress included an interfaith dialogue on how the strategy relates to issues of science, spirituality and human progress. It highlighted that global crises require global solutions and that continued technological enhancement of humanity could help ensure the long-term survival and development of civilization.
Codex Seraphinianus, originally published in 1981, is an illustrated encyclopedia of an imaginary world, created by the Italian artist, architect and industrial designer Luigi Serafini during thirty months, from 1976 to 1978.[1] The book is approximately 360 pages long (depending on edition), and written in a strange, generally unintelligible alphabet.

The document discusses different types of immortality that have been theorized or pursued, including biological immortality observed in certain species like jellyfish, technological approaches through means like cryonics and mind uploading, and religious conceptions of an afterlife. It also outlines some causes of death that approaches to immortality seek to overcome, such as aging, disease, and trauma. Additionally, the document outlines different beliefs like evolutionary immortality and mystical or religious pursuits of physical immortality through ideas like reincarnation or a day of judgment.
In the rapidly evolving landscape of technologies, XML continues to play a vital role in structuring, storing, and transporting data across diverse systems. The recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) present new methodologies for enhancing XML development workflows, introducing efficiency, automation, and intelligent capabilities. This presentation will outline the scope and perspective of utilizing AI in XML development. The potential benefits and the possible pitfalls will be highlighted, providing a balanced view of the subject.
We will explore the capabilities of AI in understanding XML markup languages and autonomously creating structured XML content. Additionally, we will examine the capacity of AI to enrich plain text with appropriate XML markup. Practical examples and methodological guidelines will be provided to elucidate how AI can be effectively prompted to interpret and generate accurate XML markup.
Further emphasis will be placed on the role of AI in developing XSLT, or schemas such as XSD and Schematron. We will address the techniques and strategies adopted to create prompts for generating code, explaining code, or refactoring the code, and the results achieved.
The discussion will extend to how AI can be used to transform XML content. In particular, the focus will be on the use of AI XPath extension functions in XSLT, Schematron, Schematron Quick Fixes, or for XML content refactoring.
The presentation aims to deliver a comprehensive overview of AI usage in XML development, providing attendees with the necessary knowledge to make informed decisions. Whether you’re at the early stages of adopting AI or considering integrating it in advanced XML development, this presentation will cover all levels of expertise.
By highlighting the potential advantages and challenges of integrating AI with XML development tools and languages, the presentation seeks to inspire thoughtful conversation around the future of XML development. We’ll not only delve into the technical aspects of AI-powered XML development but also discuss practical implications and possible future directions.
Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
