This document provides information about various services offered by an organization for seniors, such as congregate meals, home-delivered meals, activity centers, crime prevention education, wellness activities, homemaker services, caregiver support, transportation, legal and medical assistance, recreation activities, and utility payment assistance. The services are aimed at improving health, well-being, safety, and quality of life for older community members. Activity Centers serve as community focal
points where meals, social, recreation,
education, and health maintenance activities
are provided.

Includes efforts to educate seniors in ways to
protect their property and persons.

HOMEMAKER
Provides assistance with light housework to
eligible homebound senior citizens
INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE
Information on available resources, depending on
each individual’s needs. Referrals are made for
clients and are followed up to assure receipt of
services.
LEGAL ASSISTANCE
Legal counseling and information.
MEDICAL ALERT
A personal Emergency Response System used to
summon help in an emergency.
OUTREACH
Activities to identify isolated and hard to reach
individuals, in order to assist them in gaining
access to needed services.
PERSONAL CARE
Provides personal assistance with bathing,
dressing, grooming, and oral hygiene to eligible
senior citizens.
RECREATION
Citizens are provided many individual and group
activities that promote special interaction and
well-being. Activities include arts, crafts, hobbies,
games, and physical activities.
UTILITY ASSISTANCE
Power to Care assists eligible, low-income elderly
and disabled persons who are currently facing a
serious health or financial emergency in paying
electric bills.
THENATIONAL FAMILY CAREGIVERS
SUPPORT PROGRAM
Services designed to give support to the
caregivers of older persons or older persons who
care for a disabled person under 60. The services
in this program include
· Information and Assistance:
Provides information about available
resources for the caregiver.
· In-Home Respite:
Provides personal care in the home in order to
give a brief period of relief or rest for the
caregiver.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is available to Activity Centers,
meal sites, banks, local medical facilities (St.
Charles Parish), Post Office, pay bills, run
errands, and shopping. Transportation is
available daily but must be requested and
scheduled in advance. Disabled clients under age
60 are provided medical transportation to
therapy and dialysis.
UTILITY ASSISTANCE
Power to Care assists eligible, low-income
elderly and disabled persons who are currently
facing a serious health or financial emergency in
paying electric bills.
There are nofeesfor services; however,
contributionsfromparticipantsare usedto
increase services.
