The OutSouth Oral History Project was created in April 2017 through a partnership between the Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History and the University of Kentucky's Office of LGBTQ Resources. Led by Gender and Women's Studies doctoral student Adriana Sisko, the project aims to preserve stories of LGBTQ individuals in the American South and Kentucky through oral histories in order to provide an archive of these communities' experiences.

■ The target audience seems to be the LGBTQ
community, primarily in the U.S. South and
Kentucky area.
■ The project is meant to provide “a unique
repository for preserving the stories of LGBTQ
Southerners and/or individuals who have made
significant contributions to LGBTQ life in the
U.S. South” (Hale).

3. The Significance of OutSouth
■ It highlights the lives of different individuals in the LGBTQ community in Kentucky.
■ It informs and inspires those who can relate to these stories and demonstrates strides
that have been made within the community in Kentucky.
■ Connects to class themes of:
– Building archives/Digitizing information
– The process of transcription
