  2. 2. About National History Day The goal of National History Day is to promote the study of history by engaging students and teachers in the excitement of historical inquiry and creative presentation
  3. 3. More than 700,000 students nationwide participated in 2008 Last year over 25,000 students in Minnesota participated in National History Day
  4. 4. <ul><li>52 Minnesota students participated in the national competition </li></ul>
  5. 5. 2006 a simple pathfinder introduced students to government information
  6. 6. Website handout referred to MPL’s Government Documents Web page, sort of… Unique Collections!
  7. 7. <ul><li>In 2007/08 Minneapolis Public Library partnered with MNHS to target students in Minneapolis Public Schools for History Day </li></ul>
  8. 8. Three Saturdays in early 2008 offered a unique opportunity for students
  9. 9. Students met with History Day staff, mentors, and librarians for help with their research
  10. 10. A wiki was used to emulate future HCL subject guides
