While studying at CalStateTEACH, the author developed skills in Differentiated Instruction and an understanding of Bloom's Taxonomy. Differentiated Instruction means educators anticipate and address diverse student needs by modifying content, process and product without lowering standards. It benefits students by applying various teaching strategies to engage all learners. Bloom's Taxonomy emphasizes higher-order thinking, starting basic and advancing complex. It builds 21st century skills by challenging students to analyze, evaluate and think critically based on prior knowledge. Bloom's provides common language for educators to discuss assessments and strategies.
