DIFFERENT SYSTEMS OF AUTOMATED DATA
COLLECTION
As the technology is advancing at a very quick pace, things seem to be
getting more organized and simpler too in the different fields of one could
think of. So much of data one has to take care of. Automated data
collection made it possible.
 It’s a technique wherein without human involvement, details about
concerned product through analysis of image sound or videos can be
directly fed into the computer.
 A transducer converts images into digital files and these can be
stored in computer and referred to at any later stage too.
 Data capturing can be done by different technologies…Bar codes,
magnetic strips, smart cards, and biometric systems…e.g. Facial
Recognition, finger print recognition etc.
 Radio frequency identification….this has a capacity to track moving
objects. These automated systems work where other techniques are
unable to do needful.
 Biometric system is the process of identifying through finger prints,
palm prints, voice print etc. Very useful in office complex, factories
etc.
 Barcodes are most widely used system….a technique which reads
the optical machine systematic representation of data relating to any
product it is attached to.
 Varying widths and spaces between parallel lines called linear
dimensions later on became rectangles and dots and other geometric
figures.
 Bar codes were originally scanned by special scanners called bar
code readers but now interpretive soft wares came into being which
are easier to handle..
