Napoleon keeps a diary detailing his rise to power on Animal Farm and increasing authoritarian rule. He recounts chasing Snowball from the farm and taking sole command. Though he adopts Snowball's idea to build a windmill, it is repeatedly destroyed by enemies. Napoleon orders the death of animals suspected of disloyalty. Over the years, the windmill is rebuilt but used for corn rather than power. Napoleon begins walking on two legs and taking on human habits, changing the farm's name to Manor Farm and forming an alliance with the neighboring farmer.

2. Dear Diary,
My plan in chasing out Snowball has been an utter
success. And yet my time spent educating Jessie and
Bluebell’s pups paid off. Their prodigious teeth and
muscular body sent Snowbell sprinting across the farm
clearing and out the farm fence. The farm is mine now. I
have complete power over everyone, and everything.
Hopefully my future plans will be achieved swiftly, and
quickly…

3. Dear Diary,
Today I actually realized Snowball’s ideas of
building the windmill was actually a good one. In the
winter, it wouldn’t hurt to have a heater, and having
light in the stalls at night wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
But at the same time, food is still important. Whatever,
I’m in command now and others will always follow
what I say. My plan right now is to build the windmill
and harvest crops at the same time. I know it’s a wild,
but I believe it can happen

4. Dear Diary,
It’s been almost a year since I last wrote in you, and not
much has happened, until today. Just days after being built,
someone has destroyed the windmill. I don’t know who did it for
sure, but others say Snowball came back in the middle of the night
and destroyed it. It may have been the powerful winds that past
last night but some animals still think Snowball is “better” than
me. I have already called a death sentence upon Snowball, anyone
who sees him can slash his throat out without permission. Also, I
have decided to rebuild the windmill, but this time, with thicker
walls so that attackers won’t stand a chance. If I ever see Snowball
breathing Animal Farm air, I kill him myself…

5. Dear Diary,
I guess loyalty didn’t lie in my fellow comrade’s mines. Today,
my fellow comrades have admit to have had contact with enemy
Snowball. But I don’t have to worry about them, I have already
gotten the dogs to rip traitor’s throats into pieces, right in front of
the whole farm. Four pigs and numerous other animals met their
deaths that day, including the hens. The terrible bloodshed has
animals deeply shaken and confused, but I don’t care, because this is
a lesson. Animal Farm, does not accept traitors. I know one of the
seven commandments says not to kill other animals, but I, don’t, care.
Traitors, will be terminated…

6. Dear Diary,
It’s been another wild months since I last wrote in you. Once
again, just days after being built, the windmill was attacked gain. This
time, with a much stronger force. Fredrick and his men. It was a
bright morning when they barged through the five-barred gate.
Everyone, including me put down our breakfast and got up to fight.
We charged and quickly met with them, rallying for a short while until
we had to retreat due to the dozen guns being used. We all hid in the
barns and peered in horror as Fredrick planted a bomb in the
windmill wall and detonated it, leaving nothing but bits and pieces
behind. It’s brought sadness to every animal here, and yet, as a pig, I
don’t know what to do…

7. Dear Diary,
The past few years have really flown for me. Many have died, and
many have been born. The windmill has been successfully built but not used
for making electricity. Instead, it’s used for milling corn, a far more
profitable choice. But that’s not the best part that’s happened. Recently, I
learned how to walk on two legs, and I have to say, it is much much better
than walking on all four. I’ve also begun to use some of Mr. Jones
belongings and I have to say, life as a human, as actually miles better than an
animal’s. Also, Animal Farm is now known as Manor farm because of my
“partnership” with Mr. Pilkington (he’s going to help make my farm better).
Hopefully all goes well and Manor Farm will become even better. “Four legs
good, two legs better!”

8. This is a diary I made for one of the main characters in Animal Farm by
George Orwell, Napoleon. After reading this book, I realized that Napoleon
becomes more and more secretive about his thoughts. This is why I chose to
write diary entries in Napoleon’s perspective to show others what I thought he
was thinking throughout the book. After reading the entries, you may have
noticed that the voice I used is much different compared to Napoleon's voice
in the book. This is because, people’s voice on paper is normally different to
when they’re talking with others. I used a dark theme because I believe it suits
Napoleon's character by the end of the book.
