2. 1. Introduction:
Cold drinks are a popular beverage consumed worldwide.
They are composed of a variety of ingredients including
water, sugars, acids, and artificial flavors. However, the
exact chemical composition of these drinks is often
unknown. This project aims to determine the chemical
components of a selected cold drink and analyze its
composition.
2. Objective:
The objective of this project is to determine the contents of a
cold drink and analyze its chemical composition.
3. Methodology:
The following methods will be used to analyze the cold drink:
o Titration: To determine the concentration of acids and sugars
in the cold drink.
o Spectrophotometry: To determine the concentration of
artificial flavors in the cold drink.
o pH measurement: To determine the pH of the cold drink.

3. The cold drink will be prepared for analysis by diluting it with
distilled water and filtering it to remove any solid particles.
5. Chemical analysis:
o Titration:
A sample of the cold drink will be titrated using a
standardized solution of sodium hydroxide (NaOH) to
determine the concentration of acids and sugars present.
The titration will be performed using phenolphthalein as an
indicator for the endpoint. The results will be recorded and
compared to the label of the cold drink to determine its
accuracy.
o Spectrophotometry:
A sample of the cold drink will be analyzed using a UV-
Vis spectrophotometer to determine the concentration of
artificial flavors present. The absorbance of the sample will
be measured at a specific wavelength, and the results will be
recorded and compared to the label of the cold drink to
determine its accuracy.
o pH measurement:

meter. The sample will be placed in a beaker, and the pH
meter will be inserted into the sample to obtain a reading.
