Cleaning agent that helps to remove dirt and grease from porous surfaces (such as fabrics, clothes,
non-treated wood) and/or non-porous surfaces (such as metals, plastics, treated wood). All
detergents are made principally of soaps or surfactants.

The basic ingredients of detergents---petroleum-based fats and oils---are tumbled with chemicals like
sulfur trioxide, sulfuric acid or ethylene oxide in huge vats, holding up to two tons of material, on
average (reference 1). After the chemicals have formed new fatty acids, alkalis such as sodium or
potassium hydroxide are added to create one type of molecule. Other chemicals---enzymes,
whitening agents and other alkali "builders"---are added in different amounts and combinations by
various manufacturers. Tumbling vats may be shaken (like paint mixers) or stirred with giant, scraping
paddles. The completed detergent is removed through the bottom of the vat and sent for packaging in
cartons on a conveyor belt. This tumbler, or "blender," process is the method of choice for smaller
producers.

The toothbrush is an oral hygiene instrument used to clean the teeth and gums that consists of a head of tightly
clustered bristles mounted on a handle, which facilitates the cleansing of hard-to-reach areas of the mouth.
Toothpaste, which often contains fluoride, is commonly used in conjunction with a toothbrush to increase the
effectiveness of tooth brushing. Toothbrushes are available with different bristle textures, sizes and forms. Most
dentists recommend using a toothbrush labelled "soft", since hard bristled toothbrushes can damage tooth
enamel and irritate the gums.[1]
Toothbrushes have usually been made from synthetic fibers since they were
originally developed,[clarification needed]
although animal bristles are still sometimes used.[citation needed]
Many are not aware about the relationship of toothbrush from oil, but as many can see that toothbrush is made of plastic, as well
as the nylon bristles, it is surprising to note for many that plastic actually comes from oil, thus, toothbrushes are made from oil.
