The apostles were brought before the Sanhedrin to be questioned about their teachings. The high priest accused them of defying orders to stop preaching about Jesus. Peter and the other apostles replied that they must obey God rather than humans. They asserted that God raised Jesus from the dead after he was killed on the cross. When further threatened, all the apostles continued preaching about Jesus.
