Vélobar is a mobile bar that enables healthy and responsible street food, providing an alternative for urban eating. Our group made a flushing toilet for the robot activity using the motor from a hummingbird kit to spin and simulate flushing water. We used a motion sensor to trigger the motor to turn on and off when motion was detected. The most challenging part was making the robot look presentable with all the different parts needed to assemble the flushing toilet mechanism and getting them to work together functionally. We overcame this by using two boxes, a long one atop a shorter wide one, cutting a hole for the toilet bowl in the top box and running wires through to spin the bowl.

Fight for Peace was founded in 2000 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to offer disadvantaged youth an alternative to gang violence through boxing and martial arts training combined with education. It has since expanded to London and plans to partner with organizations in other countries. LUTA is a social enterprise that was created to support Fight for Peace through apparel sales, with 50% of profits going to the charity. LUTA develops clothing in collaboration with fighters and designers from the favelas to represent the strength needed to overcome adversity.
