From heady nights at London’s Boombox
and Kashpoint electro clubs has risen a
trend for ultra bright tones in hair. Taking
their inspiration from the early 1980’s
Blitz Club and old ID magazines, London’s
hipsters started wearing their severe
cut hair in electric colours. The trend
has spread and spread, leading Hari’s
to introduce ‘Pop Colour’. Pop Colour is
more about an attitude than a tone. It’s
the sort of hair you have to try once in your
life - it can be trashy in the edgiest sense
of the word or beautifully directional, with

With workstations created by
eminent sculptor Walter Raes, the
artist who turns household objects
into what Isabella Blow described
as ‘beautiful Avant Garbage’,
regularly seen on the pages of
Vogue and Love, Hari’s Kings Road
is truly original. Designs include a
real upright piano cut down to size
accompanied by a stool made from
instruments including a trombone
and flute. Other designs feature part
of a vintage red telephone box with a
chair made of Yellow Pages, but the
best seat in the house is fashioned
from part of a 1960’s Mini.

Description: Hari’s had lots of great press
articles that really‘sold’the salon. We
wanted to make this very prominent and
present the articles in an eye catching
yet sophisticated way (whispering, not
shouting). As the page loads, a magazine
featuring press covers turns to reveal
Hari’s quotes. A great way to present a lot
of information in a small space.
‘Meet the Team’- Interactive element
Description: We felt that a long list of
prices was impersonal and we wanted
to make it easier for new customers to
choose a stylist. We introduced a‘meet
the team page’. This features a picture
of the stylist - when the user clicks on
the photo of the stylist , it flips over and
a description , quote from the stylist
and price for that stylists is featured on
the back of the photo. You can drag the
photos around the page like you would
real photos. We felt that by making this
element interactive it made the stylists
approachable and accessible.

and coming British Artists.

‘Interactive Art Gallery’
Hari’s King’s Road features workstations
and artwork created by new British Artists.
Each work station is individual such as the
London phone Box and Karma Sutra. We
wanted to show this exciting and unusual
feature of the salon in an interesting way
on the website. We created an interactive
Art Gallery in which the workstatoins were
hanging on the wall as paintings. The user
can walk through the gallery and browse
the commissions.
We also featured the clock that from the
Hari’s reception in the gallery . We added a
time sensitive clock face to the Hari’s clock
to tell the time. We felt that this made the
user feel like they were part of the salon.

‘Bird Song Audio’
We used a recording of the Dawn Chorus
when the web pages load. We wanted to
create a user experience that brought the
user into the shop and garden.
‘Product Zoom Magnifier’
We used a zoom magnifier so that the user
would be bale to see the minutest of detail
on the stock. We wanted the user to feel
like they could touch the items.
‘Mood Videos’
We produced two videos that showed the
breadth and scale of the shop and garden,
bringing the website to life and bringing
the shop to the user’s screen.
‘Wish List’Folder
With over 200 items of stock for sale, we
wanted the user to be able to remember
the‘best’bits. We created a‘wish list’folder
that the user could access as they were
browsing other items of stock.
