The Sales Compensation IT team supports over 18,000 HP sales reps with compensation reporting through the MyComp application in 98 countries. However, the current mobile app is outdated and lacks features of the desktop version. The team designed a new mobile-first version of MyComp to provide detailed compensation reporting in an easy-to-use interface optimized for mobile. The latest version of MyComp Mobile has received praise from HP executives and partners and is being used as a case study for its mobile-first design and development approach.

The Sales Compensation IT team supports over 18,000 HP Sales Reps with MyComp Reporting in 98 countries. However, our current mobile
app is outdated and does not support many features found in the MyComp Desktop application. We decided to set about designing a new
version of MyComp Mobile that users would enjoy logging into on their phone and using on a day-to-day basis.
Design Process
Quick Access to Compensation Data
• Use lightweight AJAJ protocol to load data quickly over
cellular and Wi-Fi networks
• Secure simplified login process without needing VPN
Mobile-First Design
• Designing data consumption to be lightweight to account for
differences in user’s data plans and varying cellular network
speeds
• The existing version of the app had basic functionality. Our
goal with this release was to provide more detailed
compensation reporting in an easy-to-use mobile interface
using standard mobile components (touch, swipe, etc.)

Current Status
• App has been certified as Production-ready and will be deployed
to HP Sales Reps post-Split in FY16
Next Steps
• Team is currently investigating deploying the app as a Windows
10 Universal app to be deployed on the next generation of HP
hardware
Results
The latest version of MyComp Mobile has received
unanimous praise and accolades including:
• Tommy Geary, SVP of Global Sales Operations, and Bob Slaby,
VP of Sales Compensation, both described the app as
“Excellent”.
• MyComp Mobile is the showcase app of the HP IT Mobility
demo booth at HP Discover 2015
• Our vendor partners (Microsoft, Telerik, etc.) are now using
MyComp Mobile as a case study to market their products we
used in development
Collaboration Efforts
• Worked with different UX/UI teams to design the user interface
(HPSW, GF IT, Deloitte, etc.)
• Used iterative design process, pulling elements from different
iterations to best fit the mobile form factor.
