Bonaparte was elected to the French Academy of Sciences in May 1798. His Egyptian expedition included 167 scientists who made discoveries such as the Rosetta Stone. Their findings were published in the 1809 work Description de l'Égyptein which detailed the antiquities of ancient Egypt.
