Defence Medical Services Training Centre
As a senior instructor at the Defence Medical Training Centre; I was
responsible for up to 70 service men and women from all the branches
of Her Majesty’s Forces.
Over a 16 week period they were assessed at every stage both
practically and theoretically.
They were assessed to NVQ level 3 and C&GLI in Pre Hospital and
Primary Healthcare.
Prior to their Medical Centre or Military Hospital Attachments; they were
taught customer service.
“Going one better” was our catchphrase.

4. 1997 to 2000
Royal Military Police Training School
As the medical centre practice manager and medical advisor to the military police
training school my duties were many.
I ensured that all medicals and medical boards were conducted with dignity.
I personally provided medical cover on all military fitness runs and adventure training
exercises. I delivered customer service and telephone manners to the young
potential military police.
Department Commander and Training Wing Manager
1994 to 1997
As deputy training wing commander; I ensured that all staff in the garrison were
trained and assessed to the necessary standards.
As department commander of a military dressing station; I was responsible for
ensuring that we had sufficient medical supplies. I was responsible for the training
and assessment of my staff.
Recruit instructor/ Section Commander Army Training Regiment
Various Posts - Armed Forces 1993 to 1994
As an instructor with recruits, I was responsible for a section of ten
recruits.
My duties included assessing each stage of their military training for 16
weeks. Reporting to them and my commander on their progress.

As a Corporal Permanent Staff Instructor, I assisted my superiors in ensuring that all
staff were trained. I modularised the new recruit programme. This provided excellent
result and 100% passes for those going to Royal Army Medical Corps Training
Group to attend the relevant courses. I designed the assessment processes.

My duties included dealing with the Military and the public on the island of
Benbecula. This is where I really learned customer service and telephone manners.
5. During two six week tours on St. Kilda I assisted the National Trust for Scotland, I
ran the Island shop for ships visiting the island on cruises and diving expeditions.
