2. DEFINITION
It is the process of fabricating a second new denture intended to be a
duplicate of the old denture
Known as a copy denture/ duplicate denture/ template denture
3. • Any modification done to the basic shape of the old denture should
be:
• Those needed to correct loss of fit
• Those considered essential by the dentist e.g replacement of worn out acrylic
teeth
4. INDICATIONS
1. To renew old deteriorated and stained denture base material.
Duplicated denture will have the appearance of the new one
2. For the older patients to have replacement dentures with improved
fit and similar to those with which the patients are accustomed
3. For physically or psychologically impaired patient who cannot adapt
to new dentures
4. Deficiencies on the occlusal surfaces
5. Deficiencies on the impression surfaces
6. Deficiencies on the polished surfaces
5. CONTRAINDICATION
Any serious defect of the denture prosthesis. Careful evaluation of
hard and soft tissues and denture is done before duplication
The denture is evaluated for :
• Fracture
• Craze lines
• Missing teeth
• Esthetics
• Phonetics
• Accuracy of fit
• Vertical and Centric Relation
