The Democratic Republic of the Congo is a country located in Central Africa with a population of around 105 million people, making it the most populous officially French-speaking country in the world. After periods of political instability, a new constitution established the DRC as a presidential democratic republic in 2006. The national flag features a blue field with a yellow star and diagonal red stripe. French is the official language though over 200 languages are spoken.

Democratic Republic of the Congo also known as Congo-
Kinshasa, and historically Zaire, is a country in Central Africa.

2. The national flag of the Democratic Republic of the Congo is a sky
blue flag, adorned with a yellow star in the upper left canton and cut
diagonally by a red stripe with a yellow fimbriation. It was adopted on
20 February 2006.

Congo is the most-populous officially Francophone country in the world, as
well as the 4th-most populous country in Africa. It is a member of the
United Nations, Non-Aligned Movement, African Union, and COMESA.

After a four-year interlude between two constitutions, with new
political institutions established at the various levels of government,
as well as new administrative divisions for the provinces throughout
the country, a new constitution came into effect in 2006 and politics
in the Democratic Republic of the Congo finally settled into a stable
presidential democratic republic. The 2003 transitional constitution
had established a parliament with a bicameral legislature, consisting
of a Senate and a National Assembly.

navigable waterways. Traditionally water transport has been the dominant means
of moving around in approximately two-thirds of the country.
Education - In 2014, the literacy rate for the population between the ages of 15
and 49 was estimated to be 75.9% (88.1% male and 63.8% female) according to a
DHS nationwide survey. The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) education
system is plagued by low coverage and poor quality. 3.5 million children of primary
school age are not in school, and of those who do attend, 44 percent start school
late, after the age of six.
Infrastructures

6. Some three-fourths of the population is Christian. The Protestant community
includes members of the Evangelical Church of the Congo. There are also
independent African churches; the Kimbanguist Church, the largest
independent church in Africa, is a member of the World Council of Churches.
Other independent churches include the Matsouana Church and the Bougist
Church. Most of the small Muslim community is made up of foreigners who
reside in Brazzaville or Pointe-Noire.

among the many different ethnic groups of the Congo. The Democratic
