Active and reactive power sharing in micro grid using droop control IJECEIAES
The development of renewable energy contributes to the global objectives of reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, obtaining and increasing our energy efficiency. In the face of these changes, the electric-network must adapt, while maintaining a high level of reliability and a quality of energy production. To meet this objective, it is recommended to use highly developed electrical network by integrating renewable energy sources in order to adapt the energy consumption to their production, using electrotechnical software information and telecommunications technologies. We are talking about intelligent grids (Smart Grid). The main objective of the work presented in this paper is the contribution to the study of intelligent network for efficient management of energy produced by several sources linked to the AC bus via the voltage inverters. Numerical simulations have been presented to validate the performance of the proposed active and reactive power controller (Droop Control).

Optimal Cable Sizing in PV Systems: Case StudyLeonardo ENERGY
It is often beneficial to over-size the cross-section of electricity cables compared to the standard values that follow out of voltage and current calculations. In the large majority of cases, oversizing has a positive influence on the Life Cycle Cost of the installation. The investment in larger cable is easily paid back by the reduction of Joule losses inside the cable and the subsequent savings on electricity bills.
When the cable is part of a photovoltaic (PV) installation, the investment in a larger-than-standard cable is paid back even faster than in other installations. This is because the allocated electricity price for a PV installation is higher than the market price thanks to the feed-in tariff or green certificates. In other words: the energy losses that are avoided in a PV installation lead to an even bigger financial reward than in other installations.
Increasing the cable cross section in PV installations also creates additional technical and environmental benefits.

Renewable energy sources include solar, wind, hydroelectric, geothermal, tidal, and biomass. They are naturally replenished and do not run out easily like non-renewable sources. Some key advantages of renewable sources are that they do not cause pollution, are abundant sources, and have lower maintenance costs than non-renewables. However, renewable sources also have disadvantages like high initial installation costs, lower efficiencies than non-renewables, and intermittency issues due to reliance on weather conditions.
Battery energy storage systems (BESS) – an overview of the basicsBushveld Energy
Presentation by Bushveld Energy on the basics of energy storage, specifically large scale batteries at the 6th Annual Africa Power Roundtable, hosted by Webber Wentzel in Sandton, South Africa on 10 April 2018.
This document discusses the key parameters to consider when sizing a solar PV system. It covers topics like available area, climatic conditions, product selection, site survey, and cost. The technology selection section examines different panel types and factors like efficiency. Inverter sizing ratios and the benefits of string vs central inverters are also summarized. As the penetration of renewable generation increased, it
had become obvious that the variability of these sources
and the fact that renewables are not always available when
the power is needed, were becoming a problem. As a
consequence, fossil-based operating reserves are required to
augment renewable generation to ensure reliability. Energy
storage can provide a superior solution to the variability
problem when compared to fossil-based generation, while
also improving the availability of renewables to provide
electricity upon demand. Energy storage is a flexible
resource for grid operators that can deliver a range of
grid services quickly and efficiently. The rapid growth of
policy mandates and incentives for renewable generation
and, more recently, for energy storage, the need for
modernization of the grid infrastructure, and the desire to
decarbonize the economy, are the principal drivers behind
the renewed interest in energy storage.
V2G allows electric vehicles to provide power to the electrical grid during periods of peak demand by allowing two-way power flow. There are three main versions of V2G involving battery-powered vehicles that can provide power to the grid from excess battery capacity during peak times and recharge during off-peak times. V2G systems provide benefits like peak load leveling and spinning reserves but challenges include potential grid overloading and high vehicle costs compared to ICE vehicles.

It also covers mechanical considerations, thermal rating, planning requirements and objective indicators for determining the best design. For DC line design, it discusses electrical characteristics like resistance and power transfer, as well as corona power loss. The document provides information on a variety of factors to consider for optimizing overall overhead line design.

Distributed Generation By Roland DesouzaIEEEP Karachi
The document discusses distributed generation and the use of aluminum cables for power distribution. It notes that distributed generation is connected to utility distribution networks, privately owned, and based on renewable or waste fuels. The challenges of distributed generation include protection schemes, voltage control, and two-directional power flows. The document also outlines the cost savings of using aluminum cables for building and industrial power cabling compared to copper, noting connectivity issues need to be addressed but overall it is a cost-effective solution.
This document discusses open access power purchase in India. Open access allows for the non-discriminatory use of transmission and distribution systems by licensees, consumers, and generators. It describes bilateral transactions for buying and selling power as well as collective transactions through power exchanges like IEX. Requirements for open access include installation of specialized meters, available transmission capacity, a contract demand over 1 MW, payment security, and no pending legal issues. Cost analyses are provided for purchasing 1 MW of power through IEX daily bidding and a bilateral fixed tariff agreement.

Measures in SQL (SIGMOD 2024, Santiago, Chile)Julian Hyde
SQL has attained widespread adoption, but Business Intelligence tools still use their own higher level languages based upon a multidimensional paradigm. Composable calculations are what is missing from SQL, and we propose a new kind of column, called a measure, that attaches a calculation to a table. Like regular tables, tables with measures are composable and closed when used in queries.
SQL-with-measures has the power, conciseness and reusability of multidimensional languages but retains SQL semantics. Measure invocations can be expanded in place to simple, clear SQL.
To define the evaluation semantics for measures, we introduce context-sensitive expressions (a way to evaluate multidimensional expressions that is consistent with existing SQL semantics), a concept called evaluation context, and several operations for setting and modifying the evaluation context.
