Eduardo Navarro is an artist who approaches social spaces and draws lines between reality, representation, and experimental art works. He creates works with a sense of naivete that acts as a starting point and allows viewers to experience the work. In another work, Primer Maraton Antitabaco, he organized an anti-smoking marathon as an art project that relied on real participants showing up. His most recent work, El Dorado, appropriates a gold mining enterprise and questions the line between reality and art by establishing a real mining operation located hours from a biennial exhibition.

Claes Oldenburg was a Swedish-American artist known for his large-scale public sculptures and "soft sculptures" that often portrayed everyday objects in outsized, abstracted forms. His 1961 exhibition The Store displayed familiar consumer goods recreated out of materials like plaster and papier-mache. Oldenburg sought to question social norms and critique American consumerism by transforming mundane objects and presenting them as art. His soft sculptures from the 1960s gave tactile, abstracted forms to items like a bathtub or pay telephone, challenging notions of what constituted a sculpture.
This document provides a summary of 8 sessions from an after-school art program called "Teaching in the Galleries with Rach" held at various art galleries and museums in New York City. Each session summary includes 2-3 questions that were discussed about the artworks viewed in that session. The document summarizes an art exhibition for children called "Colour" that was held at an art gallery from March to June 2003. It featured contemporary artworks focused on different colors, with interactive elements to experience color properties. Children enjoyed interpreting the abstract works and found them interesting to look at. They provided creative interpretations and learned new things about color. Having opportunities for hands-on exploration and discussion helped children engage meaningfully with the contemporary art. Since the exhibition, children have shown interest in art forms using different mediums and technologies, as well as those with interactive elements. Activity books and information labels that promote child-adult interaction have also helped children connect art to their own lives.
