 Dinosaur bones were probably found thousands of
years ago, Greeks and Romans may have found
bones and thought they were mythical creatures’
bones.
 For a long time, scientists have been trying to find
the reason why dinosaurs aren’t around anymore.
 There are many theories of why dinosaurs became
extinct, but none have yet been proved to definitely
be the reason for dinosaur doom.

4. Meteor Strike
 Most people think a meteor killed the dinosaurs.
 The collision had so much force, there was enough
dust thrown into the air to block the sun.
 The weaker dinosaurs died because of the change
of climate.
 Without the sun, plants struggled and eventually
died out.
 Without plants, herbivores died.
 Without herbivores to eat, carnivores died too.

5. Volcanoes
 Some people think a lot of volcanic eruptions killed
the dinosaurs.
 They believe enough ash was flung into the air to
block the sun, leading to the same consequences
as the meteor strike.

6. Ice age
 Another theory is an ice age freezing the dinosaurs.
 Many dinosaurs died of freezing.
 In the extreme cold, water would have frozen.
 With nothing to drink, the rest of the dinosaurs died.

7. Disease
 Another possibility is that dinosaurs caught a severe
sickness and couldn’t survive.
 The disease would have been deadly and contagious.
