Sociomantic has a long history with D dating back to the company's founders PhD work on D in 2006. The speaker joined Sociomantic in 2011 as their 4th D developer and helped with major projects like migrating D to 64-bit and porting their codebase from D1 to D2. Currently Sociomantic has around 30 D developers and has ported some of their applications and libraries to D2, but the migration is still ongoing with performance improvements still needed. Sociomantic aims to contribute more back to the D community through open sourcing their libraries and collaborating more closely with the D Foundation.
