made the audition show format popular was
first shown on tv in New Zealand.

The first talent show aimed at finding new
pop stars.
The show was remade in Europe and
America, and inspired lots of similar shows.
They are some of the biggest rated shows
in history.
14 years later they are still popular around
the world.

Seperated east and west Europe.
Since the end of World War 2 people in the
east lived in communist dictatorships
controlled by Russia.
The east was much poorer than the west,
and still is.
People with relatives couldn't see each
other.
