Iordanis Stylidis was born in the Hellenic administrative geography, the city of Edessa-Pella,
in 1959. He is a graduate of the School of Architecture of the Aristotle University of Thessa-
loniki (1987-1992). He is also have a diploma in Εconomics from the University of Macedonia
(situated in Thessaloniki-Greece) (1978-1984). Assistand professor at the Department of Ar-
chitecture at the University of Thessaly where he is teaching 1. ‘’Architectural Composition/
synthesis IV’’, 2. ‘’Designing small scale spaces and objects’’, 3. ‘’Visual Communication’’, 4.
‘’Automated and Autonomous structures-Habitats’’, 5. ‘’The Art of Observing’’ at the post-
graduate programm ‘‘ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN’’ (2013 - 2014).
His is an experience practitioner in the field of the architectural analysis and composition,
active as a solo performer or colaborator (mostly between the years1992 and 1999) in mi-
nor or big scale projects (from small scale houses to municipal administration buildings, in-
terior restorations and furniture production). Additionally, he is still participating in national
and international architectural competitions.
As an artist and a conceptual activist he is the curator of sixteen solo art exhibitions and
installations and he has multiple participations to Biennale and Triennale international exhi-
bitions since 1980. He is the writer of many essays, papers, concept manuals for education
and six books (2013 / An Urban Block, 2010 / Transportation of Memories, 2009 / Defeca-
tors, 2006 / The Geography of Water, 2004 / INDIA through JORDAN, 2001 / Communication
and Design) containing a huge variety of information and analysis about 1. the western vi-
sual culture, 2. the techniques to create and compose optical information, 3. the stochastic
narrations consisting of elements of analysis of the identity in long term voyages to the
eastern civilizations, 4. proposals, explanations and directions for the understanding of the
landscapes and the habitats, the contemporary urban environment, the multi-cultural eth-
ics and responces. He is the enthusiastic carrier of a vital interest for cartography, semiotics
and the concept correlation of the art phenomenon and the sciences into the modern tech-
nical and cultural environment.
Coinstantaneously he is organizing, directing or participating to 1. educational voyages (In-
dia, Oman, Egypt, Nepal, Germany, Turkey, Syria, Iordan, Italy, Switzerland), 2. documenta-
tion and design collective workshops in Greek regional communities and the landscapes of
Europe (Tuscany-Italy) and 3. the unfolding and understanding of urban details and events
(Berlin, Istanbul, Venezia, Cairo, PortSaid) since 2002.
The clarification, the in depth analysis and the in situ research of the fundamental bedrocks
of meaning, including the urban and natural landscape, the multi-cultural urban expressions
and the co-existence of multiple and collective entities into a constantly changing environ-
ment (…standing as the vital properties of a robust regional identity) and, nevertheless, the
detection methodologies of the very core of the contemporary urban life, are the tools and
the practices used to activate and upload meditation aiming to a profound understanding
of these phenomena.
While he is into the experience of a joyrney, but, mainly, during the active periods of the
documentation and design collective workshops (such as 1. the summer multi-national
workshop of the U.M.AR.-U.I.A. (Union of the Arhitects of the Mediterannean Sea) held in
Cairo, 2009, 2. the international workshop in PortSaid and 3. the multi-national workshop
in Tuscany-Italy), where he was participate as a director and a scientific researcher are con-
stantly enriched with detailed and penetrating lectures, round table discussions and suc-
cessive design methodologies sustaining and accelerating vital architectural issues usually
standing in the outscirts of the academic discipline.

LIFE IN EUTOPIA
The root towards the harbor of Igoumenitsa is a prolonged introduction of a journey ment to
gradually present and erase meanings and reassurments regarding the continuous surround-
ing environmental phenomenon. To present all gains achieved of an altered consciousnes, to
accelerate desire for the length of a moment or a longer time of engagement. Keeping self
within a spatial and mental enclosure as this wondering has already activated and is keeping
on into new and un-identified landscapes, long busky valleys and lines of thoughts expressed
into or mirroring towards the interior of the vehicle carrying us far.
This vehicle is firmly protecting all emerged young minds responsive to multiple research de-
mands, as we are drifting away, activating all techniques of observation rituals, penetrating
into and re-estimating the shape and the texture of reality. Incoming image-like places are
dissolving to minor landscape details. Plateaus, open to reconnaisance or bounded to the ex-
ploratory view. Spatial fragments where desire is triggered, emerge around us, thus we have to
stop and stay for long. As long as the body will become heavy and excausted because of a long
walking, the hands will stop grabing or touching the ephemeral fragments of history, freezed
in front of our eyes, the look will withdraw, abandoning all waiting views.
This long trip towards the West, the navigation up to the North, the sailing of the Adriatic sea
and the crossing of the Italian mainland towards the Tyrrenian sea, is nursing the seeds of mul-
tiple possibilities we wish to be true and, accurately, define all disciplines regarding our scopes.
It is not a well known linear trajectory of essential but familiar incidents standing far enough
to be reached but, to the contrary, it constitutes a rizhome of flutterings and furcations, of
constand and powerful re-arrangements of the idea we hold for reality. It contains the birth,
the definition and the time length of this unique reality phenomenon been active and applied
within this time-space pocket engulfing the journey, involving its population of participants
and the thick grid of all correlating intelligence and environmental reformations.
THE FIRST FIVE HOURS
This navigational heading towards the North is strongly empower every minor or major an-
nouncement or debate. Enable all series of examples and experiences reporting and describing
everything we desire to become, instantly, real or to activate some time later. There, where we
are going to form a living habitat, but, in here too, where we are now stand, waiting. So, now,
using short sentences and gestures, unfolding the primar dialogues or becoming the guiding
lights and the meaning protectors when a luck of significance explodes, we are detecting.
We are detecting the multiplicity and the density of the changing skies sustaining the flowing
clounds, the identity of the passages traversing through the dense forests and the endless
cultivations, the envisagement as we are stairing the landscape from high above, the supervi-
sion of fog when it flows lower and leave the mountain picks clar to our site, when it sunks and
cover the valleys. Some time later we are offering our curiosity to the others. Letting self to dis-
appear and emerge again as a vital presence, into this present or future to be, collective life.
In the begining we will abandon our names. This journey’s reality will be formed and stabilised
within this dense web of debading, spreading to constitute a grid made of the first desicions,
the primary reassurments, the recordings and the retractions.
Oh, this moment...!
When self will gain and accept its temporary new identity, standing strongly on the belief that
we all will remain lonely for the length of this demanding journey, detecting and building the
reality that already welcome our existence and mercifully secure our self.

THE NEXT THREE HOURS
West is expecting our crossing through and the eventual felicious rest. North will offer the
prolonged experience of night sailing. To comprehent these leading trials we have to exersice
self to accept the long waiting as one of the learning disciplines of travelling. We also must
meditate about the ethos giving meaning to the time length extending in front of us when,
standing still, we will continiously wait something, somehow, to be realised, embracing self
as a vital element, arousing our concience, transforming the near by environment, realising a
promise which, also, is a mental perception.
Till then we have to confront with the meaning identification and the properties of succesive
spatial pockets we are shortly living into. What is the importance of these spatial pockets?
What is the nature of this cognitive void torturing self? What is been left to treasure, what is
clearly identified and how this definition is accelerating, magnifying desire? The road leading
us West is crossing the endless expansions of geography already fall to nutrality, drifted to in-
existence. The vehicle’s metal and glass frame is essentially constrain, much more than expect-
ing, every attempt of a triumphal mind motivation, transforming each and every move, every
evanescent image of the ‘’outside’’ to a blitz of reality having or having not happent.
Self is rapidly drifting and sunk into oblivion.
STATIONS

and exercised to the properties of an endless aesthetical field including the visible or obscured
line of the horizon and its constituents, the surface of the sea and the long waves, the succes-
sively transformed skies, the formation and the disappearance of the clouds, the far, smoothly
appearing coastal line. Each one of us is now negociating of moving away from the familiar and
the substantial due to a particular self experimentation evolving or undermining its identity.

Eutopia is offering autonomy from the essential dependencies of life. It offers the fruits from
the mature cultivations, the food that will encourage the primar morning questions forming a
schedule for the tracking tactics to locate a vital detail that will engage interest for the length
of a day. The late noon food that will empower the body, calm and orient thought to the de-
mands of the collective scope. The food in the evening that will arouse and liberate, uncontro-
lably scatter the ideas, invite and nurture the difference forming the content of a sentence that
will add a vital surplace to the collective knowledge apothem.
Eutopia include all these moments, the unique and valuable moments, when it is clearly con-
ceived that sole consciousness is simultaneously containing and contained within reality, when
the collective gathering is waiting the recording and the distribution of the archives narrating
the achievements of each and every paricipant as they are attending and creating multiple
mild discussions following the afternoon rain.
Eutopia is a short time pocket way beyond the obvious reality. It does not match nor belong
to the strict principles and peculiarities laying into the texts defending its existence. Eutopia is
not springing where there is no chance of entering into but at the realm of a time-space pocket
allowing arrangement from an ideal crew immediately prepared to habitate its existence. Eu-
topia is a structure, an experience entity made real because of the collective coordination and
desire.
EXIT FROM EUTOPIA
The morning rain is spreading silence into the vehicle, crossing the Tuskany landscape head-
ing East, demanding the words leading and igniting the powerful narrations of this mixture of
experiences shared together into the space and time pocket we’ve constucted. The places we
are moving through salute the apotheosis, the birth of their identity, transluscent and liquid
idols extending far yonder the glass surfaces surrounding us. They exist and they are not ex-
isting, simultaneously. Obscure or fading formations into the mist. We are returning carrying
an allegation, a paradox of thinking, an axiom standing to be confronted, to be distributed as
a radical but brilliant adventure or, to the contrary, to fortify and alter our ambition thus to
return again and try to live again into its ideological core.
The sky, over that distand harbor we are heading to is dark. The sea is tranquil. The ship is going
to sail steadily and for the next hours we will extend our discussions till early in the morning.
We are gradualy using small discontiguous areas spreading questions and building answers.
The ship is now an ark and a city. Noon, sunset, night and dawn constitude the unique time
frames of heterotopia.
Into this short and long time, strange sail, the contemplative traversing of the succesive pro-
spectives of living, the entrance and the detection of the content of concepts nevertheless
the enterprise to define, to deside and exersice self to the recognition, the regulation and the
evaluation of the content of Utopia, Eutopia and Heterotopia, will offer a strong armour to
those who insist to recognise gallantly and gallantly break the barriers of meditation.
Soon we will venture for a new land. We will born into its physical presence the next morning,
after a demanding adventure to reach its field of existence, the experience of a welcome ritual
and the deep sleep. The name, the properties, the definitions and the flexible advancement
of life within, the essential confrontation with the strategy to overthrow its identity, to trigger
every noetic break through and the design of every detail because of a ferocious desire, is our
goal and felicitous chance.

Workshops, such as these, are based on the need of
the experimental verification by empirical means, of
the validity of symbiosis in eutopia’s constitutional
space, time and relations plateau (living and acting
togetherinto acommunal pocket). Theseworkshops
are always triggered by an invitation. The group, be-
ing already into a new un-explored and unique land-
scape will dedicate each and every activity (lectures,
field reconnaissance, designs, texts, common long
discussions) or meditative means to effectively deal
with a given spatial question. Thus, every member
is becoming the vital unit of a team working process
aiming to reach a result. Combining the personal
ability with the communal and general stochastic
scope, interpreting the and correlating with locus,
landscape, cultural syntax as interpreted through
the embeded or the new and ephemeral stereo-
types and behavior patterns. It is a robust attempt
to earn all empirical data constituting the identity of
Eutopia (a term been given by Lewis Mamford in his
epic book : The history of Utopias)

The proposal includes, defend and generate the core idea and the com-
panion structure of long term living into the landscape. The structure is
consisting of a wooden deck engulfing a tree and a cubic shape cabin hut.
It tends to eliminate the gesture of the architect or the architect itself. The
outcome, looks as it is a structure aroused on the landscape because of ne-
cessity. But, to the contrary, it sustains and proclaims the human ability to
override the essential needs of life and seek the possibilities of meditation
and the envisagement while being into the nature through the length of a
day or, further more, the changes of the seasons. IS
The proposal includes a variation of bended surfaces over a deep side
trench existing along the cultures of the Tuscany landscape. The upper sur-
face is proposed to work as a top covering the underneath wooden deck.
Thus sustaining a short time or a day’s residency. Coincidently it forms and
proclaim the idea of an unfinished bridge tending to reach the soil, allow-
ing the walking by visitors to stand high enough, at it’s edge, at an other-
wise unapproachable stand to supervise the near territory. A shelter for
the land workers and the farmers and an observation post for the visitors.

The proposal is a conceptual game sustaining the analysis of the question
of the correlation between the idea of the nature as a field of possible and
desired processes of understanding and the methodology to achieve and

Build as a suspention frame of indigenous flora this structure will be dis-
mantle after a period of time leaving the already grown up plants to form a
gallery shape shadowy interior passage. The idea is to alter the interest of
the passenger and the viewer looking at or standing under a formation of
shaped plants negotiating the contradiction, the optical possibility, the il-
lusion, the statement of a ‘‘natural’’ and ‘‘cultural’’ at the same time struc-
ture standing between the idea of a structure and the physical entity, the
possibility that can be, once more, provoce the limit between the known

by clusters of trees, because of this continuous pattern that is forming the
identity of the layer of dead leaves, the huge shelter-like structure stand

Architecture can and is proposing a variety of answers to multiple reasons,

The Structure is always a core element and a site-specific momentum for
all who penetrate, habituate and live for long into the landscape. Some
structures are looking like a warm welcome for the hours of noon and sun-
set, some others are hostile, declaring this amorphous idea of a solely per-
sonal internal, of a belonging to an imaginary icon. Some structures are
invite and withheld every additional practice or rearrangement on their
form. Some others, the incubator-structures, are force the user to meet
its intentions. To experiment with every detail of their form, to experiment
with the practices of building and stabilising a field of possibilities, a field
of expectations, a waiting area for the next one. IS
A structure is sometimes the outcome, the need of a full day residency in
the country. Some times, it is the result of a joyful and playful practice dur-
ing the summer noon. Some times it is a hideaway for a moment or for the
length of a warm day. A structure can be form using materials no more
than some steps away. Piling them up, creating a story to sustain the sta-
bility of their presence, creating a bond, a powerful relationship to stand
against the heat of the summer and the long hours until the evening. A
structure, sometimes, can be very weak and very robust at the same time.
Because its nature is antagonizes* time, not the elements. IS

Η διαπέραση της γεωγραφίας αποτελεί το πρώτο από πολλά γυμνάσματα που
περιέχονται στην απόφασή μας να ακολουθήσουμε ένα κάλεσμα. Ούτε σημαντικό ούτε
ασήμαντο. Να περιορίσουμε τον εαυτό μας στις απαιτήσεις μιας αυστηρής συμφωνίας.
Πως, μαζί, θα επιχειρήσουμε να ορίσουμε, να κατασκευάσουμε, να ανιχνεύσουμε ένα
τύπο κοινής ζωής και δράσης. Η τροχιά της μετακίνησης μας δεν διαγράφεται στο λευκό
ταχύτατο ίχνος ψηλά στον ουρανό. Είναι μιά τεθλασμένη γραμμή στην επιφάνεια της
γής που περιέχει την αργή και την ταχύτερη διαπέραση αλλεπάλληλων τοπίων. Τη

Λιβάδια, καλλιέργειες, υπόστεγα, μικρούς οικισμούς, οροσειρές, φιγούρες ανθρώπων,

να πλησιάσει και να μας περιλάβει στον κόσμο του εσωτερικού του. Να περιλάβει τον

ετεροτοπίας. Τι περιμένουμε; Το επόμενο πρωϊνό, το φεγγάρι στη νότια Αδριατική
θάλασσα, τον δροσερό αέρα που μπερδεύει τους ήχους από τις κοντινές ομιλίες στο
κατάστρωμα, το μεταμεσονύκτιο εσωτερικό με τα βαριά σώματα και το βύθισμα στον
ύπνο. Τι μπορεί να συνδέσει όλα αυτά; Με ποιόν τρόπο; Για ποιό σκοπό; Πως αυτοί οι
σύνδεσμοι θα ριζώσουν και θα αποδώσουν μια συμπαγή πρόσκαιρη μεριστή ιδέα για
τη ζωή; Πως θα απλωθούν ανάμεσά μας; Πως θα παραμείνουν δικοί μας και δεν θα
ξεριζωθούν σε μιά ακαριαία στιγμή; Θα δούμε. Θα σημειώσουμε, θα φτιάξουμε.

The crossing of geography constitutes but the first of many trials that build the decision
to follow an invitation. Neither valuable, nor worthless. A decision to confine one’s self
to the demands of a strict agreement. To find the way in which together, we will at-
tempt to define, detect and construct a form of collective life and action. The trajectory
of our crossing is more than a linear white trace against the sky. It is a multy-line on the
surface of the earth containing the slow and the fast crossing of successive landscapes.
Collecting samples of question marks that define the identity of things we left behind.
Fields, crops, sheds, a few houses, the mountain ranges, figures of people, the empty
roads, the warm noon and the humid night, the ship we are waiting to come and include
us within as it sails from a plain of certainty to that of temporary heterotopy. What lies
ahead of us? The next morning, the moon that rises over the Adriatic Sea, the cool wind
that twirls the sounds of conversations on the upper deck, the deep night interior with
bodies weighted down, sunken into sleep. What could connect all of this? In what way?
To what end? How can these connections take roots and give us the fruit of a solid, com-
mon, yet fleeing idea about life? How can these roots intertwine among us? How can we
keep them close so that can’t be uprooted in the blink of an eye? We shall see. We shall
note. We shall build.

Συλλέγουμε συνεχώς πληθυσμούς από ακατανόητες εκτεταμένες εμπειρίες όπου η
σύνδεση του εαυτού μας, η περίπλοκη πλεύση του μέσα σε ένα ακαθόριστο σύμπαν
δυνατοτήτων, στο εσωτερικό του πλοίου, μορφοποιεί ένα καινοφανές σύνταγμα
ορισμώνυπονομεύοντας τη σχέση μετηνπραγματικότητα. Περισσότερεςλεπτομέρειες,
περισσότερες τακτοποιημενες συλλογές, ρημαγμένες, τοποθετημένες ανάμεσα στην
ιδέα του ταξιδιού και στο δυνατό περιεχόμενό του που θα ενεργοποιηθεί εκεί, σε ένα
τόπο όπου θα φτάσουμε πολύ αργότερα.
Γιατί εκεί; Γιατί τότε; Το διάστημα του ταξιδιού, ο χρόνος του, συγκροτείται στο ειδικό
πεδίο μιάς πυκνής και αναμένουσας σειράς ενδεχομένων. Η συζήτηση με ένα άγνωστο
άνδρα για την ώρα της προσόρμισής μας στο λιμάνι της Αγκόνα, η συζήτηση με ένα
συνταξιδιώτη για τη θέα και το όνομα ενός νησιού πριν το σούρουπο, οι ενδεχόμενες
διακλαδώσεις πιθανοτήτων που θα καθορίσουν τους διαλόγους μας στην διάρκεια της
νύχτας. Η αφήγηση ενός παρελθόντος γεγονότος και η σημασία του για την συνέχεια
της ζωής μας μέχρι τώρα. Μιά ερώτηση για τον τόπο όπου κατευθυνόμαστε. Η ιδέα γι
αυτόν ή εκείνη απέναντί μας. Η σπατάλη μιάς μοναχικής νύχτας.
Αυτός. Εκείνη. Η προετοιμασία του ύπνου στο ανώτερο εξωτερικό κατάστρωμα.
Το πλύσιμο του σώματος και το ποτήρι με ότι απέμεινε από μιά μάταιη υπόθεση, μιά
κομμένη επιθυμία. Ο εσωτερικός τόπος του πλοίου που ταξιδεύει και ταξιδεύει και
ταξιδεύει φαίνεται έτσι να διαστέλλεται ως το άπειρο. Εμείς, εκείνοι, αυτοί δίπλα μας,
περιλαμβάνονται και σχηματίζουν ένα πλήρες και αρκετό σύμπαν σχέσεων. Τι δυνατές

We are constantly collecting a variety of incomprehensible experiences where the con-
nection of ourselves as we navigate through a universe of possibilities to the interior of
the ship, gives form to revealing new definitions that undermine our connection to real-
ity. More details. Endless constant attempts to arrange new collections, rapidly collapsed
collections, found between the idea of the journey and that ideal possible content of it.
A content that will be activated and expand at that far land we are about to reach a day
after. Why there? Why then? The length of a journey, the time it takes, condenses in
the special field of a thick with anticipation row of prospects. A short discussion with a
stranger about our due time to the port of Angona, the discussion with another traveler
about the view and the name of that far away island surrounded by dusk, variations of
possibilities that will define the dialogues throughout the night. Narrating a past event
, measuring it’s impact in our life since. A question about our destination. Our impres-
sion about a woman or a man standing close to us. The waste of a lonely night. He. She.
Preparing to sleep on the upper deck. Washing the body and the glass from the leftovers
of triviality, of a num desire. The inner world of a ship that sails and as it sails, it seems
to expand to infinity. Us, them, those around us, all included, all consisting a full and suf-
ficient constellation of relations. The powerful reach and connection of relations…what
a gift to the intellect.

Έχουμε ήδη προσπεράσει την πόλη της Ασσίζι. Διαπερνούμε ένα πυκνό σύννεφο
καπνού που σέρνεται από την κοιλάδα χαμηλότερα έως το ύψος του οδοστρώματος.
Ύστερα τρείς συνεχόμενες σύρραγες και την κοιλαδο-γέφυρα που οδηγεί στην πλευρά
ενός λόφου με πηγές θερμού νερού. Μπορούμε να σταματήσουμε σε κάθε ένα σημείο
και να παραμείνουμε εκεί για πολύ πραγματοποιωντας τις πρώτες αναγνωρίσεις
των φυσικών ιδιοτήτων των μικρο-τοπίων τους, αφήνοντας τις πρώτες χειρονομίες
να πραγματοποιήσουν τους δεσμούς που επιθυμούμε, τους δεσμούς στους οποίους
στηρίζουμε τις πρωτες υποθέσεις μας. Μέσα στο περίβλημα του οχήματος απλώνεται
η στοχαστική σιωπή, προδίδοντας την παγίδευση του νου σε μνήμες προηγούμενων
ταξιδιών και διαμονών, σε υποθέσεις και σχέδια για την επόμενη ώρα, στις απόπειρες
να τακτοποιήσουμε ακριβώς τις επερχόμενες στιγμές της κοινής μας ζωής, εκεί.
Θα διασχίσουμε μαζί ανηφορικούς εξοχικούς δρόμους, θα μαζευτούμε γύρω από την
εκφώνιση μιάς πρότασης, ενός σχόλιου για τον ορίζοντα. Θα χαμηλώσουμε το βλέμμα
προς την διεύθυνση ενός συρσίματος στη χλόη. Θα γευτούμε, θα τακτοποιήσουμε
μιά πρόταση, θα δηλώσουμε αμέσως μιά αντίρρηση και μια συμφωνία. Φτιάχνοντας
ισορροπίες και συνδέσεις.
roots, visits
We have already by pass the city of Assisi. Passing through a thick layer of smoke com-
ing from the valley bellow and covering the surface of the road. We pass through three
consecutive tunnels and the high raised bridge leading to the hillside where there are
hot water springs .We can stop in different spots and remain there for long performing
a first reconnaissance of the natural properties of the fragmented natural landscape, al-
lowing gestures to bring us close, to form the bonds we desire, connections upon which
we build our first impressions. Into the casing of the bus the silence of meditation is pre-
vailing, keeping the focus of our minds to the memories of past voyages and residencies,
to the creation of assumptions and plans for the next hour, to the attempts to accurately
schedule the incoming moments of our common life, there.
We will walk together the sharply high country paths, we will gather around the an-
nouncement of a proposal, of a comment for the horizon. We will lower our eyes to-
wards a creeping sound coming from the grass. We will taste, form a phrase and declare
an objection and an agreement. Creating equilibrium and connections.

Οι απαιτήσεις του ταξιδιού σταθεροποιούνται από τις σειρές, τις συλλογές, των
γεγονότων και των λεπτομερειών τους που ήδη άρχισαν να σχηματίζουν τα αρχεία των
σχέσεών μας. Με τον εαυτό μας που ξυπνά στην νέα γεωγραφία και στο ειδικό σύμπαν
συσχετισμών που πρόκειται να αντιμετωπίσει, με τους άλλους που αναδύονται και
σχηματίζουν επίσης τους εαυτούς τους, με ότι αφήσαμε πίσω και, νιώθουμε ήδη, πως
δεν μπορεί να υποστηρίξει τις σκέψεις και τις ανάγκες μας, με όσα κατασκευάζουμε
και χρησιμοποιούμε πρόσκαιρα ή σε όλη τη διάρκεια αυτού του κοινού πλέγματος
εμπειριών σαν αμυντικούς φλοιούς ή επιθετικά προσχήματα.
Ήδη, εκείνοι, συλλέγουν τις πρώτες λεπτομέρειες που γρήγορα θα ορίσουν και θα
ονομάσουν το προσωπικό πεδίο των εμπειριών τους. Ήδη, αυτοί, εγκαταλείπουν
την επιθυμία να απλώσουν και να διαπραγματευτούν με αυτόν τον νέο εαυτό τους

ενός προγεφυρώματος με τον άλλο. Περιγράφουν την δυσκολία της οριοθέτησης μιάς

tools and techniques
The demands of the journey solidify into rows, collections of events and details that are
starting to form the background of our relations. We find ourselves awaking in the midst
of unknown geography in a universe of connections that rise taking form, next to others
waking up into being themselves with what we left behind and what we already feel that
cannot support our present thoughts and needs , all that we create and use for a while or
during this common net of experiences as defensive shells or offensive pretence. Already
they are collecting the first details that define and name the personal level of their expe-
rience. Already they abandon the desire to extend and explore with their new self and
with the others. Already you’re nesting in what is familiar and you believe it will protect
you. We deny and accept. Letting of all certainties we unleash ourselves into winning as
much as we can. Closely attending a discussion, passing over the pages of a book, writing
a line of words and slowly transform it to a powerful conceptual bond, altering a connec-
tion between a concept and a phenomenon.
We are all moving towards a direction. Placing and aligning all meaningful anchors in
order to signify the distance between self and the tissue of experience, the correlation
with reality. Every incident, every fact, every detail included within our personal archive,
have been trans or reformed either by the temporary or the long-term properties al-
ready been kept within our consciousness.
Our personal archives contain and represent the tension we are feeling because of the
distance we have to cover. They are narrating the difficulty to bridge the gap among
one and the other. They illustrate the challenge that lies begin the limits within every
community of relations. They describe the rituals through which instruments and are
constructed and practices are put to the test.

η κατοίκηση του εγγύς τοπίου
Φτιάξαμε μικρούς κύκλους. Κοιτάξαμε έως τα βάθη του τοπίου, τα σύνορά του, τον
ορίζοντα. Φτιάξαμε ένα πρόχειρο αρχείο των φαινομένων που συγκρατούν και ορίζουν
τις ιδιότητες αυτού του τόπου. Τα βαθιά ευθύγραμμα χαντάκια και τις συστοιχίες των
κυπαρισσιών, τις ποικιλίες της αδύναμης σκιάς σε αυτή τη συννεφιασμένη ημέρα, τα
μεγάλα μοναχικά δένδρα που φαίνεται πως ορίζουν ένα μυστικό δίκτυο προθέσεων
των κατοίκων του διαμέσου των αιώνων που πέρασαν. Τις καλλιέργειες που βρίσκονται
ήδη στο τελευταίο στάδιο της ωρίμανσής τους. Εύρωστες, πυκνές, απέραντες θάλασσες
λεπτόκορμων φυτών που λικνίζονται στον δυνατό άνεμο.
Η ησυχία της εξοχής δυναστεύει τις δικές μας προθέσεις και, γιαυτό, κυρτώνουμε τους
ώμους, ακουμπάμε στον διπλανό μας, απευθύνουμε την πρώτη ερώτηση με ένα συρτό
ψίθυρο, σαν να διαισθανθήκαμε, ήδη, προ πολλού, πως δεν πρέπει να διασπάσουμε
την ησυχία της υπαίθρου. Η μία ομάδα έχει σταματήσει στην πλευρά του αγροτικού
δρόμου. Η άλλη, μακρύτερα, στην άκρη μιας καλλιέργειας βρώμης. Μιά άλλη ομάδα
συνέχισε να περπατάει ώσπου χάθηκε πίσω από τον χαμηλό λόφο.
Κάποιο συν-οδοιπόροι παρέμειναν μόνοι κοιτάζοντας επίμονα ή πρόσκαιρα προς την
διεύθυνση του μεγάλου κτιρίου που φιλοξενεί τις προθέσεις μας, τους τρόπους μας,
την ποικιλία και τα δείγματα των εαυτών μας που τώρα μαθαίνουν να ζούν στο χρόνο
του τοπίου και του τόπου. Να βρίσκονται εντός του νωρίς το πρωϊ, στην ένταση του
μεσημεριού, τη στιγμή του ισχυρού ανέμου και της δυνατής βροχής. Όταν τα σύννεφα
είναι πολύ χαμηλά και τόσο σκούρα που να πρέπει να υποχωρήσουμε στο βάθος μιάς
σκοτεινής στοάς. Όταν η νύχτα περιορίσει το βλέμμα έως το σύνορο μιας συστάδας
θάμνων.
Ένα κείμενο ξέφυγε από τα χέρια ενός οδηγού. Ίσως αφέθηκε να χαθεί, να υψωθεί από
τον άνεμο, να βραχεί από τη βροχή, να διαλυθεί, να χωνευτεί στον απέραντο ουρανό.
Τι περιείχε; Πως θα μπορούσε να σημαδέψει και να καθοδηγήσει τις ζωές μας;
inhabitancy of the near landscape
We have created small circles. We gazed deep into the landscape, its limits, the horizon.
We have built a preliminary archive of all phenomena constituting and defining the prop-
erties of this land. The deep straight trenches and the clusters of cypresses, the varia-
tions of soft shadows melted into this cloudy day, the enormous lone trees standing as if
to define a secret network of intentions realized by the farmers through the past centu-
ries. The cultures already completing their progress towards maturity.. Robust dense and
endless surfaces of plants swinging in the powerful wind. The silence of the countryside
has already taken over our intentions. So we lean closer, shoulder to shoulder whisper-
ing the first question feeling it is imperative not to break this silence.
A group has stopped at the side of a path another stood and observed a huge culture of
oat. The third group kept on walking till it disappeared over a hill. Some of our compan-
ions stood aside looking consistently or for a while towards the big building hosting our
intentions, our personal manners, the variety and the authenticity of each one of us be-
ginning to familiarize with the time identity of locus and the landscape. To prepare and
exercise self in standing within the landscape early in the morning, at the peak of noon,
while the powerful wind and the rain burst.
When the clouds are so low and so dark that force us to retreat into the depths of a dark
tunnel. When the night forces the eye to limit itself to the nearby bush. A text flew out
of a friend’s hands, maybe release to soar high into the wind, to get wet, to dissolve,
to become one with the infinite sky. What was written on it? Could it have marked and
guided our life?

Από εκείνο το απόγευμα της άφιξης, εκείνο το πρωϊνό που η βροχή μας ανάγκασε να
καταφύγουμε στην προστασία μιάς πυκνής συστάδας δένδρων, εκείνο το μεσημέρι
που διασχίσαμε τον απέραντο ελαιώνα, μεταφέρουμε μιά συλλογή, μια ποικιλία
εύθραυστων δειγμάτων και άθραυστων συνδέσμων για όσα συναπαρτίζουν πλέον την
κάθε προσωπική ιδέα για ό,τι μας περιβάλλει.
Θυμόμαστε ακριβώς τις στιγμές που αναδύθηκαν η μία και οι πολλές ισχυρές σκέψεις,
πότε κυριάρχησαν την συνείδησή μας και προσανατόλισαν την επιθυμία μας. Τις στιγμές
που αποφασίσαμε σε ποιό χωρικό σημείο και γιατί, με τι, με ποιούς, θα μπορέσουμε να
δημιουργήσουμε μία κατασκευή ή να φωνάξουμε προς το τοπίο μία οριστική φράση.
Να αποχωριστούμε το προφανές και το ατελές του εαυτού μας. Να αφήσουμε το γυμνό
σώμα να βραχεί και να ριγήσει από τις φευγαλέες στάλες της βροχής. Να αρπάξουμε το
χορτάρι, να τρίψουμε τα γυμνά μας πόδια στο χώμα, να αναπνεύσουμε αδίστακτα τη
μυρωδιά του τόπου, να συντρίψουμε τις τελευταίες λεπτομέρειες της βεβαιότητάς μας
για όσα αφήσαμε πίσω.
Μέσασεεκείνατααπογεύματακαιταπρωϊνά,εκείνατασκιεράμεσημέρια,φτιάξαμετον
μυθικό τόπο των Σειρήνων και των Λαιστρυγόνων, τον τόπο της απέραντης επιθυμίας,
το πεδίο όπου αφέθηκε να πλεύσει ο εαυτός μας.

Since the afternoon of our arrival, the morning when the heavy rain forced us to seek
cover under a dense cluster of trees, that midday we have crossed the endless culture
of olive trees, we are bringing a variety of fragile experiences connected with unbreak-
able links. Experiences, which are now constitute the identity of every intimate idea
explaining all that surrounding us. We are accurately remembering the moments when
each and every powerful thought emergse. The moments these thoughts conquer our
consciousness and orient our desire. The moments we’ve decide the exact spatial detail
we will create a structure upon or we will shout a permanent phrase to.
To part with the obvious and imperfect of what we are, to allow the naked body to feel
the rain , to clutch the grass and rub our feet on the ground, breathing in the landscape
with nothing holding us back. To crush our few remaining certainties about what we left
behind.
Living within those afternoons and early mornings, the shadowy midday, we have been
built the mythical place of the Sirens, the place of the Laestrygonians, the place of the
unstoppable desire, the plateau where self let to be flow.
Either from the high deck of a fragile ship or the peculiar peeks of the landscapes of
consciousness we have collect designs, leaves, weeds, conversations, gestures, icons,
suppositions. The basic unbreakable materials that will have to carry the weight of the

We keep wandering freely to the possibilities and the probabilities of debating. To the
power of the attached spaces of silence spread in between phrases in vast, essential, or
short repeatedly looping, sections. We have shortly displaced the speech-carrier and
the writing-archive, the fundamental protectors of all the deficient depictions regard-
ing the content of the paradigms of life, with designs and the primary diffident models.
We are now comprehend that we are forming the leading paths regarding the how and
the why a supposition, every supposition followed for a short or bigger time period, can

altogether, we are constantly looking at and observe the behavior disciplines of those

from debris wood and dry grass, the meaning of a fence made from thin branches, the
meaning of an elevated deck made from boards engulfing a young tree. The meaning of
a trench, undermining the prospective orientation of a path. The meaning of a wooden
narthex, able to invite the knitting of the flexible tentacles of earth. Then, while these
exceptional moments are springing in reality, during an afternoon or a sunset, while we
are living into our rooms or stroll in the countryside, we stand. To carefully attend a nar-
ration, a fertile discourse, arousing a compact, characteristic comment, regarding the
positiveness and the power of thought. The bypassing of regularity to create a secure
untold hypothesis regarding the ephemeron of all suppositions, the scorches of thought
that form designs and scars on the skin and the mnemonic nodes. We are playing with
each other. We are debating reforming and re-observing the patterns of our lives. We
are sensing and touch our faces. At that precise moment our glowing heads melt to each
other. At that moment the courtyard in front of us become a plateau of possibilities, the
path transform and reappear as a corridor and a course leading our ephemeral life here.
Our rooms transform to a womb of a coming birth. Our notes become the new languages
describing again life in Eutopia.

κάθε υπόθεση που ακολουθούμε για λίγο ή για πολύ, να ορίσει την ζωή των κατοίκων
του τοπίου. Ταυτόχρονα, όμως, κοιτάζουμε και παρατηρούμε τις συμπεριφορές όσων,
εκείνων, βρίσκονται και αγωνίζονται κοντά και μαζί μας. Ανιχνεύουμε τις συζητήσεις
των άλλων, ρωτάμε, απαιτούμε την διαλεύκανση των προθέσεών τους.
Το πως και το γιατί, δηλαδή, αρχίζουν να υπερασπίζονται τη σημασία ενός υπόστεγου
από κλαδιά και ξεραμένα χορτάρια, ενός φράχτη από λεπτόκορμα κλαδιά, ενός
υπερυψωμένουδάπεδουαπόσανίδεςπουαγκαλιάζειένανεαρόδένδρο,ενόςσκάματος
που υπονομεύει την σχεδιασμένη πορεία ενός μονοπατιού, ενός ξύλινου νάρθηκα που
πάνω του θα συρθούν και θα πλεχτούν τα εύκαμπτα πλοκάμια της γης. Τότε, εκείνες
τις σημαντικές στιγμές, κάποιο απόγευμα, κάποιο δειλινό, μέσα στα δωμάτιά μας ή
στο διάστημα του περιπάτου στην εξοχή, απομένουμε να ακούμε μία διήγηση, μία
εύφορη αιτιολογία, ένα ακέραιο σχόλιο για την βεβαιότητα και τη δύναμη μιας σκέψης,
ένα πλαγιοκόπημα της κανονικότητας, ένα προστατευμένο ανέκδοτο ποίημα για την
προσκαιρότητα των υποθέσεών μας και για τα εγκαύματα της σκέψης που σχημάτισαν
σχέδια και ουλές στο δέρμα και στους μνημικούς κόμβους.
Παίζουμε μεταξύ μας. Συζητάμε καθώς ανα-σχηματίζουμε και παρατηρούμε τα τυπικά
της ζωής μας. Ακουμπάμε τα πρόσωπά μας. Τότε, τα φωτοβόλα κεφάλια μας βυθίζονται
το ένα μέσα στο άλλο. Τότε, η αυλή γίνεται ένα πεδίο δυνατοτήτων, το μονοπάτι
μετασχηματίζεται και μορφοποιείται σε διάδρομο και πορεία της πρόσκαιρης ζωής
μας εδώ, τα δωμάτιά μας γίνονται οι κοίτες μιας νέας γέννησης, τα σημειώματά μας
γίνονται οι νέες γλώσσες που περιγράφουν και πάλι τη ζωή στην ευτοπία.

The morning breeze and rain deliver our reflections and desire to the fields, the country-
side, the path, the trenches around the crops. The same fields, paths, the same familiar
yet undiscovered landscape. Available and unattainable to all demands, to the need to
interpret and to remain. We can disconnect or connect it’s details, construct and defend
one or many ideas about the balance in a complete moment or about an entire day of
inward gazing.
The idea we brought with us about the relation and the position of each observer has
long been abandoned. We are creating, negotiating the discipline of observation, aware
that with each new step, each new position, each new dialog , the conditions transform.
This is why it is called plateaus of events. Into that we enter, we remain and that is what
we abandon sooner or later, with the experience of plot and endless possibilities.
Likewise and because of a simple or sophisticated gesture, depending to our efforts to
define and add a new vivid correlation mark, to seek for a shelter enabling a tranquil life
and habitation, to stand on a bedrock of residence into silence, or, finally, to eject from
a spring-board thinking motive and achieve an outstanding negotiation with happiness,
hedonism and madness, we acknowledge the flow of endless correlations forming its
powerful and complex identity.
We are withdrawing, bypassing and abandoning, losing ourselves
in joy and meditation.
What a feast for our unique and collective self …!

Ο πρωϊνός αέρας και η βροχή παραδίδουν στο στοχασμό και την αχόρταγη επιθυμία τα
λιβάδια, την εξοχή, τα μονοπατια και τις βαθιές τάφρους γύρω από τις καλλιέργειες.
Τα ίδια λιβάδια, τα ίδια μονοπάτια, το ίδιο και, ακόμα, ταυτόχρονα, οικείο και ξενό
τοπίο. Διαθέσιμο και απροσπέλαστο στα ίδια αιτήματα, στην ίδια ανάγκη ερμηνείας
και διαμονής. Μπορούμε να διακόψουμε ή να συνδέσουμε τις λεπτομέρειές του, να
κατασκευάσουμε και να υπερασπίσουμε τη μία και τις πολλές ιδέες για την ισορροπία
μιάς στιγμής σε πληρότητα ή μιάς ολόκληρης ημέρας ενατένισης στο εσωτερικό του.
Η ιδέα που μεταφέραμε μαζί μας, για τη σχέση και τη θέση ενός παρατηρητή, έχει
εγκαταλειφθεί προ πολλού.
Φτιάχνουμε, διαπραγματευόμαστε την πειθαρχία της παρατήρησής του γνωρίζοντας
πως σε κάθε επόμενο βήμα μας, σε κάθε επόμενη θέση, σε κάθε νέο διαλογο, ολόκληρη
η σχέση με την συνθήκη του αλλάζει. Γιαυτό το ονομάζουμε πεδίο γεγονότων. Γιαυτό
εισερχόμαστε, παραμένουμε και το εγκαταλείπουμε, γρήγορα ή αργά. Έμπειροι/ες πιά
από την συνθήκη και τις τελετές της διαπραγμάτευσή του. Έμπειροι/ες από τις πλοκές
και τα αλλεπάλληλα γιορταστικά της σκέψης ενδεχόμενά του.
Έτσι, με κάθε απλή ή πολύπλοκη κίνησή μας, με κάθε προσπάθειά μας να ορίσουμε και
να προσθέσουμε ένα δείγμα σχέσης, ένα καταφύγιο για την ζωή και την διαμονή εντός
του, ένα υπόβαθρο παραμονής και ησυχίας ή ένα βατήρα έξαλης διαπραγμάτευσης,
ευτυχίας, ηδονής, τρέλλας, γνωρίζουμε πως αφήνουμε μιά πλημμύρα σχέσεων να
διαμορφώσει την ισχυρή πλεκτή ταυτότητά του.
Αρχίζουμε και οπισθοχωρούμε, πλαγιοκοπούμε και εγκαταλείπουμε,
χαιρόμαστε και χανόμαστε στον στοχασμό.

As we were crossing the Tuscany landscape observing its consecutive differentiations, its
modifications and its still untouched properties of site-specific plateaus pleasure magni-
fy our desire to approach and define the varieties of this unknown and transient archive
of experiences and events to come.
Sometime later, during our lasting strolls and the activation of the research disciplines,
we disclose the principal and absolute properties of the landscape and locus we’ve been
settled into. Concern and diligence regarding all we have to collect, comprehend and fol-
low and, thus, since, become the orientation paths leading our relation with the in site
especial interest, fill our hands and knapsacks with a variety of materials and flora de-
bris, the archive of peculiarities of the landscape. The leafs, the grass, the pieces of thin
tree branches, the blossom and full-fledged fruits. The wind, the swinging of the cultures
of oath, the human figures moving in the distance through the clusters of trees, the early
morning breeze, the calm of the afternoon, the flocks of birds, the still water at the wa-
ter tanks and the deep ditches rapidly filled due to the heavy rain, the variety of green,
the variety of the endless surface formations. A day after we have focused to define the
strategy that will lead our actions. To design the forms of our material collections, to
match a set of suppositions, to look again towards the pastures now fed from the rain, to
run away into the landscape searching and detecting new questions regarding the spatial
details we need to rethink and clarify, to fold a piece of paper, to re-design, better, the
texture and the actual form of a branch, of a bobble of scions, of a cluster of stems.
We are going to design and model our ideas for a minor and short-term living pocket
and, co instantaneously; we are collectively feeling the joy of our common residence and
shared experience.

Καθώς διασχίζαμε το τοπίο της Τοσκάνης, οι αλλεπάλληλες αλλαγές του, οι μεταβολές
του και οι ανέγγιχτες, ακόμη, ιδιότητες του ειδικού πεδίου του μεγέθυναν την επιθυμία
της προσέγγισης των ποικιλιών αυτού του νέου, πρόσκαιρου, αρχείου δειγμάτων και
γεγονότων.
Ύστερα, αργότερα, όταν οι περίπατοι και οι τακτικές διερευνήσεις αποκαλυψαν τις
ορίζουσες και πλήρεις ιδιότητες αυτού του τοπίου και του τόπου της πρόσκαιρης

άνεμο, τον κυματισμό των καλλιεργειών, τις φιγούρες που κινούνταν μακριά ανάμεσα
στις συστάδες των δένδρων, την ψύχρα του πρωϊνού, την άπνοια του απογεύματος, τα
σμήνη των πουλιών, το στάσιμο νερό στις δεξαμενές και τα βαθιά χαντάκια που γέμιζαν
γρήγορα από τη βροχή, την ποικιλία του πράσινου, την ποικιλία των σχηματισμών του
εδάφους και του συνεχούς ανάγλυφου.
Μετά, συγκεντρώσαμε το ενδιαφέρον και καθορίσαμε την τακτική των πράξεών μας.
Να σχεδιάσουμε τις μορφές των δειγμάτων μας, να ταιριάξουμε δύο τρείς υποθέσεις,
να κοιτάξουμε έξω προς τα λιβάδια που τρέφονται από τη βροχή, να βγούμε έξω και
πάλι κυνηγώντας τα νέα ερωτηματικά και τις λεπτομέρειες που χρειάζονται ακόμη, να
διπλώσουμε ένα φύλλο χαρτί, να σχεδιάσουμε και πάλι, καλύτερα, την υφή και το σχήμα
ενός κλαδιού, ενός θύσανου βλαστών, μιάς δέσμης μίσχων. Πρόκειται να σχεδιάσουμε
τηνιδέαμαςγιαέναμικρόκαισύντομοτρόποκατοίκησηςαλλά,ταυτόχρονα,κατοικούμε
και χαιρόμαστε με όσα συναπαρτίζουν την κοινή εμπειρία μας.

Κάθε σκέψη μπορεί να αποτελέσει την μήτρα μιάς γέννησης. Ενός ιδιώματος της
συμπεριφοράς, μιάς χειρονομίας που ακαριαία θα προσθέσει ένα πλεόνασμα νέων
υποθέσεων για το χωρικό και χρονικό πεδίο εντός του οποίου ο εαυτός-διεγέρτης και
ο εαυτός-παρατηρητής στέκεται ή επιχειρεί μιά διαπέραση. Αυτή και κάθε σκέψη
μπορεί να εγγραφεί σε μία ισχυρή θέση μνήμης ώστε η γέννησή της, το πρόσκαιρο
πέρασμά της από την πραγματικότητα και τα υπολλείμματα των υποθέσεων και των
ερμηνευτικώνδυνατοτήτωνπουεκτόξευσε,ναμεταπλαστούνσεκείμενακαιπροφορικές
αφηγήσεις. Τα κείμενα, με τη σειρά τους, μπορεί να διασπαρούν στο εύφορο πεδίο μιάς
καλλιέργειας ανθρώπων που μένουν και παρατηρούν τις κινήσεις και τις υποθέσεις δύο
λεπτόκορμων νεαρών ανθρώπων που άγονται και φέρονται από τους κυματισμούς και
τις ριπές του ανέμου. Διασχίζουν την απόσταση, επιθυμούν, συνδέονται, τυλίγονται και
ξετιλύγονται, πατούν σε ένα βυθό και αναδύονται σε μία επιφάνεια, επιχειρούν.
Τα κείμενα αυτής καί κάθε περιγραφής συναντώνται συνήθως και επιταχύνουν τις
υποθέσεις για την πρόθεση, για την τεχνική, για την δυσκολία, για τα ύστερα ίχνη, για
την νυχτερινή συνομιλία των σωμάτων, για την ευκολία και την ανησυχία ενός γεγονότος
που ακόμα βασανίζει τον γυμνό εαυτό, την μνήμη, την συνείδηση, ξεκολλώντας
κομμάτια ανεπεξέργαστης επιθυμίας, συνδέοντας κομμάτια απόλαυσης, φτιάχνοντας
έναν ορισμό και μία βεβαιότητα, προσέχοντας και παρατηρώντας τη διάρκεια του
διαστήματος που αυτό το σύνολο, η ποικιλία των σημείων, ακτινοβολεί και πλοηγεί τη
σκέψη, τις σκέψεις, προς μία κοινή στάση για τη ζωή.
Μιά στάση απελευθερωμένη από την τακτικότητα και την οδηγία.

birth and the traces of a transformation
Every thought is a womb that can give labor. Of a pure behavior tendency, of a gesture
which, instantaneously, will add a surplus of fresh suppositions regarding the spatial
and time plateau where the self-igniter and the self-observer stand or attempt to pen-
etrate. This present and every other thought can be archived to a mnemonic cell thus,
its birth, its presence, its ephemeral pass from reality, tightly attached to the side effects
of suppositions and interpretational possibilities it launches, can and will be transformed
to texts or oral narrations. Texts, additionally, can be spread to the fertile plateau of a
human culture, a group of people, now standing and looking the acts and the gesture-
suppositions of two thin young humans swinging rhythmically back and forth due to
the force of the wind. They cross the distance, they desire, they connect, they wrap and
unwrap, they touch the depth and emerge to the surface, they are acting. Every text
referring to this present and every other future depiction is usually connected to and ac-
celerate all essential suppositions regarding the vital intentions, the technique applied,
the hardship of this on going venture, the traces left untranslated, the deep night loving
ritual, the convenience and the anxiety that still torture the naked self, the memory, the
consciousness. Tearing away pieces of raw desire, uniting pieces of pleasure, creating a
definition and a certainty, forcing the attention and the observation of the length of time
when this totality, this variety of signals is glowing, navigating thought towards a com-
mon life pattern. A life pattern emancipated from the ordinary and the directive.
A life pattern deregulating thought and provide its substance so, some time later, at
once, everything being witnessed to become a basement, everything being withhold to
become a brunt, everything being abandoned to become the essence of a new explora-
tion. This powerful and tremendous leap disrupting regularity sweeps everyone present,

Καθώς διασχίζουμε την απόσταση προς το λιμάνι της πόλης Αγκόνα, διαπερνώντας την
ορεινή ράχη της Ιταλικής χερσονήσου, προσφέρουμε και υποδεχόμαστε τις ερωτήσεις
και τις απαντήσεις, τις υποθέσεις και τις βεβαιότητες από εκείνο το διάστημα χρόνου, σε
εκείνοτοδιάστημαχώρου,όπουαφήσαμεκαιπαραλάβαμεέναπλήθοςεμπειριώνγιατη

κοινής συνέπειάς μας. Θα διασχίσουμε την Αδριατική θάλασσα, τα εγγύς τοπία της
οροσειράς της Πίνδου. Έτσι, εκεί, θα ανανεώσουμε και θα συγκρίνουμε την εμπειρία της
γεωγραφίας, την εμπειρία των ποικιλιών της. Έτσι, καθώς μετακινούμαστε, πλέουμε,
μέσα στην νύχτα προς τον Νότο θα επιδιώξουμε να στοχαστούμε για την πιθανότητα της
παράλογης συνέχειας του ταξιδιού μας, έως το ΠορτΣαϊντ ή Νοτιότερα προς το Άντεν,
το Ομάν, τις Ινδίες, την Άπω Ανατολή. Ο εαυτός μας, ο άστατος νούς μας, επιχειρεί να
ελιχθεί, να παρεκκλίνει από την κανονικότητα. Ο βαρυφορτωμένος από επιθυμία και
δυνατότητα εαυτός φέρεται ακομη στο ίχνος μιάς διαδρομής έως ότου απελευθερωθεί
και εμπλακεί και πάλι σε μία νέα δράση. Αυτή η σύντομη εκγύμναση στην ποικιλία των
γυμνασμάτων και των τεχνικών τους διαμόρφωσε και σταθεροποίησε τους ειδικούς και
δικούς μας νόμους για την σχέση μας με την πραγματικότητα. Βρισκόμαστε και παλι στο
πεδίο της κοινής ζωής, πρόκειται να επιστρέψουμε σε εκείνα και στα όσα γνωρίζουμε
αλλά με ένα νεό τρόπο, εξαιτίας ενός εμπειρικού ριζώματος που φέρει τον εαυτό λίγο
ψηλότερα, σε μία νέα θέση εποπτείας, με περισσότερη δύναμη και ευλυγισία, με
αυτοτέλεια και επάρκεια για τις νέες προκλήσεις του καθημερινού και του οικείου.
Αγγίζουμε ελαφρά το κάθε διπλανό και διπλανή μας. Πληρώνουμε μία μικρή ανησυχία
και ένα ερωτηματικό που αναφέρεται στην κοινή διαδρομή μας. Προχωρούμε.

navigate on the trail of a fading course till the appearance of a new vivid possibility.
This short time training to exercises and methods form and stabilize a set of particular
and unique disciplines regarding our correlation with reality. We are, once again, enter-
ing into the common plateau of ordinary living, returning back to everything we are
familiar to, following a new leading paradigm that spring out from an experience based
rhizome shifting self to a new position of supervision, more powerful, more flexible, au-
tonomous and efficient to confront with the provocations of the everyday living.
We are softly touching our comrades sitting beside us. We are paying the price for the
minor worries and the spatial question marks forming our common route. We are ad-
vancing. Sending a mild gesture and all the appropriate phrases to all who have reached
their birthplaces. We, will reach our homes, shortly.

Τώρα, θυμάμαι με ακρίβεια, την τελετή και την απόπειρα, να τακτοποιήσω τις
εκκρεμείς σειρές των σκέψεων που έστειλα και έδειξα στην ομάδα των φοιτητών και
των φοιτητριών με ‘’...strange and broken english sentences...’’. Επιθυμώντας να ορίσω
ένα σύνδεσμο αλλά, ταυτόχρονα να βρώ εκείνη την μεγάλη και αδιάσπαστη γέφυρα
που φέρει και φέρεται στο μεταξύ μας διάστημα.
Με έναν νέο ανιχνευτή, όταν μείναμε κάτω από τη βροχή, για λίγο, σχεδιάζοντας μία
τακτική και, αργότερα, με μία έξοχη συνομιλήτρια, όταν συναντηθήκαμε και διασχίσαμε
τον φωτισμένο διάδρομο προς τα δωμάτιά μας, αλλάζοντας δύο γραπτά μηνύματα και
ένα συνοδό σχέδιο φτιαγμένα σε ένα τσαλακωμένο χαρτί. Έναν και μία άγνωστους και
γνωστούς στα ελάχιστα κοινά διαβήματά μας. Αυτούς και όσους επιθύμησαν και ακόμη
επιθυμούν. Έχω ήδη φτιάξει ένα αρχείο μνημικών λεπτομερειών για όσα ήθελα, για
εκείνα που ήθελα πολύ, για τα ελάχιστα που θα επέτρεπαν να μείνω στην περιοχή και
το ειδικό της τοπίο μετά από την αποχώρηση όλων όσων έπρεπε να αποχωρήσουν. Με
μία άλλη απαιτητική συντροφιά, με άλλους, τους ίδιους, ωριμότερους και έμπειρους
συντρόφους.
Δεν έγινε να ‘’...began to collect wood, stones and leaves...’’ αλλά ανταποκρίθηκα στην
επιθυμία και την επιμονή της νεότατης Ελένης και της Τατιάνας. Δεν κάθησα δίπλα στον
Βασίλη όταν ξεκίνησε μία ζωτική και εύρυθμη συζήτηση, ούτε ακολούθησα την Bedour
όταν περπάτησε για πολύ προς τον μικρό οικισμό και την εξοχή. Η Heba με ρώτησε
για την πρόθεσή μου να εργαστώ ώστε να συναντηθούμε τον χειμώνα και πάλι στην
μακρινή όαση της Sewa για ένα νέο εργαστήριο. Τέτοιες προτάσεις δεν απαντιούνται
με λόγια αλλά με αγκαλιές...!. Σύντομα θα αναγνωρίσει ο ένας τον άλλο, και πάλι. Με
τη Σάσα πρέπει να εμπλακούμε σε μία ακόμη σημαίνουσα συζήτηση.
Η Εύη, η Καλλιόπη, ο Δημοσθένης και ο Γιώργος αλλοίωσαν και διέβαλαν την πρόθεσή
μου ώστε να προσανατολιστώ για πολύ και για καλό στις δοκιμές που έκαναν με την
δική τους αλλά και την κοινή συνθήκη. Ίσως, θα έπρεπε να αντικατασταθώ ...για πολύ.
Να βλεπώ εγώ και να ακολουθώ την δική τους διάβαση, την δική τους ορμή, τα δικά τους
επίμαχα και σημαντικά διαβήματα. Αυτοί οι κατάλογοι των ποικιλιών των προθέσεων,
των διασπάσεων και των επιδιώξεων που αστραποβολούν ακόμη ισχυρά στο νού μου
βεβαιώνουν για την ισχύ του παρελθόντος διαβήματος και την σύνταξη ενός νέου.

I can remember accurately, right now, the ceremony and the attempt to settle the pend-
ing series of thoughts I have send and shown to the group of students in “strange and
broken English sentences”. Desiring to create a bond but find at the same time that great
uncrossed bridge that lies between us. With a new tracker when we stayed behind under
the rain for a while designing a tactic and later when I joined an excellent in conversa-
tions friend, exchanging a few texts with the company of a worn our paper. More than
one people, known and unknown in our common efforts. Maybe people who desired
and continue to desire.
I already have built an archive of detailed memories of my desires, of what I craved the
most, the things that would allow me to remain in the unique landscape even after the
departure of everything that had to depart. With demanding company, with others, with
the same as before, more mature, more experienced companions. I didn’t ”begun to
collect wood, stones, leafs” but I believed and responded to the wish and persistence of
young Elen and Tatiana. I didn’t sit nex to Bill when he begun a vital and minimal discus-
sion nor did I follow Bedour when she walked for long roaming the village and the coun-
tryside. Heba asked me about my intent to work so that we can meet again next winter
in the far-off oasis of Sewa for another lab. Offers like these are not met with words but
with open arms. We shall meet again soon. Sasa and I need to plan yet another powerful
and meaningful conversation. Eve, Kalliope,
Dimosthenis and George have altered and shifted my intent so that I was navigated into
the tests they did in their own as well as collective. Maybe I should be replaced.. for a
long time. I seem me follow their paths, their momentum, their important crossings. All
those listings of intentions, of fragmentation, of expectation shine bright in me and my
mind, assuring me of the power of a gathering, the very power of this endeavor.

Workshops, such as these, are based on the need of
the experimental verification by empirical means, of
the validity of symbiosis in eutopia’s constitutional
space, time and relations plateau (living and acting
togetherinto acommunal pocket). Theseworkshops
are always triggered by an invitation. The group, be-
ing already into a new un-explored and unique land-
scape will dedicate each and every activity (lectures,
field reconnaissance, designs, texts, common long
discussions) or meditative means to effectively deal
with a given spatial question. Thus, every member
is becoming the vital unit of a team working process
aiming to reach a result. Combining the personal
ability with the communal and general stochastic
scope, interpreting the and correlating with locus,
landscape, cultural syntax as interpreted through
the embeded or the new and ephemeral stereo-
types and behavior patterns. It is a robust attempt
to earn all empirical data constituting the identity of
Eutopia (a term been given by Lewis Mamford in his
epic book : The history of Utopias)

...The man is under the influence of some kind of mental panoply.
This armor is not covering the body but creates a kind of behavior
keeping him off the fundamental knowledge of nature.
Touch, lay, smell, hear, inhabit nature...
...BACKFALL: The flow of the installation enables the gradual detection of
the landscape. The spiral ascension that leads to a summit (observatory)
makes the view to the olive plantations easy while the user is constantly
exposed to the elements of nature...
A performative demonstration representing and activating the idea that
we need to deeply educate ourselves to the multiple and peculiar phe-
nomena of nature as we are searching and living into a site specific place,
any place. To understand the concept and its diverse deviations engulfing
and shaping the very core of its identity. To understand the properties, the
qualities of the environment as we choose to diffuse, to take off our spec-
tacle oriented surface ‘‘skin’’ and activate the sensory-nerve system.

A gesture - manifestation of the idea of a ribbon-like smoothly elevated
observatories forming a grid, scattered within an olive trees cultivation,
which coincidently acts as a habitation possibility. As the visitor is using
this structure, standing, sitting, meditating about the variations of the im-
mediate landscape details he/she can navigate self smoothly up till the
top, to a height above the cultivation plateau where he/she can supervise
the far surface and landscape properties adding a surplus vital informa-
tion. Locus, time, weather and the sensory correlation of a human being
with the variety of all elements is the key purpose of this structure. I.S.
