Thanksgiving started in 1921 to commemorate the peace treaty made between the Pilgrims and Native Americans over 90 years prior, though the holiday is still celebrated centuries later to remember how the Pilgrims learned to survive in the new land and eventually coexisted peacefully with the local tribes, cooperating and helping one another for seven generations without conflict.
