Objective I am looking for a contracting Business Analyst role based in
Sydney, Australia. Having come from a technical background and
working end to end for full project lifecycles, I am flexible in my
abilities, from requirements gathering to workflow design, system
testing to delivery and post release support. I am available to start
in January 2017.
Experience 2/16 – 12/16 Lloyds Banking Group London
IT Business Analyst (contractor)
I worked as an IT Business Analyst in the Basel III Liquidity
Reporting team, having started in February 2016. Utilising our
bespoke ETL system Beck, we produced government regulated
reports across a number of different areas, defining the company’s
liquidity standing for both retail and commercial customers. Lloyds
itself is one of the largest banks in the UK, with over 30m
customers linked to 50m accounts. After the financial crash of 2008,
mandatory liquidity reporting was introduced to ensure banks can
cover their liquidity in times of stress. We would extract the raw
data from multiple systems, transform it by applying various
business rules, and then aggregate it to produce the liquidity
reports in the format defined by the PRA (Prudential Regulation
Authority).
I was brought into the company to work on the Operational
Deposits project, which defines the business balance of commercial
customers used for day-to-day operations. Our requirement was to
identify the Operational Dependency of our customers through the
use of particular services and their volume of transactions. This
would determine their ‘stickiness’, proving them to be less likely to
withdraw their operational deposits in times of stress, allowing us to
more accurately report potential liquidity outflows and possibly
reduce coverage requirements. My responsibilities were to analyse
the data from the various input systems, identifying their suitability
in satisfying our requirements and highlighting any data issues that
were found, liaising with the system SMEs to define how they could
be managed. Once the analysis phase was complete, I wrote the
functional specifications detailing how the data would be extracted,
the format and structure of the tables used in the database, and the
transformation steps needed to produce the required output. I
completed the full cycle of system testing and managed the UAT
with the business, with the system going live in November 2016.
Skills Used: Beck, SQL Server Management Studio, Microsoft
Visio, Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint
10/14 – 2/16 ACE Insurance London
IT Business Analyst / Business Engineer
2. Experience (cont) I worked as an IT Business Analyst in the ACE Online team at ACE
insurance, having started in October 2014. ACE Online is an online
application allowing external Brokers to receive insurance quotes
based on specific information entered into the system, which utilises
a pre-defined rating engine and produces up-to-date quotes for a
variety of products. Internal Underwrites are also able to underwrite
any quotes within the system which have been referred to them,
analysing the level of risk detailed within the system and adding
subjectivities and endorsements if required, before allowing the
Broker to agree and incept the quote to the customer, providing the
insurance policy they requested.
ACE Online is a system which has been in operation for around 10
years. I was brought into the company to work on the ACE Online
Velocity project, which is a complete system rebuild using the
Mendix technology as a platform. Using the Agile methodology, we
work in 2 week sprints, liaising with the business and our in house
UI/UX team to build a new ACE Online system from the ground up.
My responsibilities are of a hybrid capacity, I ran workshops to
define requirements which can be written up into user stories, I’ve
visited external Broker companies to demonstrate the system and
coordinate user testing, and I also built a lot of the functionality in
the system myself using the Mendix tool. We also have a variety of
integrations which we utilise to communicate between the new
system and existing systems, allowing data to be passed between
them for storage and future reference.
In the last year, we delivered the system to a large number
Brokers, and currently have around 500 external and 50 internal
users. Along with the ongoing maintenance responsibilities, we also
plan to integrate all of the existing product suite into the new
system, as well as introducing it to a wider network of Brokers, both
domestically and abroad.
Skills Used: Mendix App Platform, ACE Online, .css styling,
Microsoft Visio, Excel, Word, Powerpoint
07/07 – 11/13 Colt Telecom London
Workflow Configuration Analyst
Business Analyst
Lead Analyst, Workflow
I worked as a Systems Business Analyst in the Workflow Team at
COLT Technology, having started in July 2007. I worked on the
XTRAC Team, analysing and building workflows within the XTRAC
environment. XTRAC is a recently commercialised workflow tool
designed and built by Fidelity, using pre-defined rules to provide the
automation of work items electronically throughout the various
departments of the company based on requirements detailed by the
business.
I have designed and built workflows currently utilised by over 2000
users, providing 3rd line support and assisting in high-level
solutions to bugs in the system. I have worked closely with the
integration support team, implementing integrations within XTRAC
which utilise b2b services and external databases. These
integrations have allowed us to enforce workflow dependencies,
transfer data and search for existing customer information, amongst

other things, functionality that would have been impossible through
the use of XTRAC alone. Having initially started as a Configuration
Analyst, after about a year I began to represent the team in a
Business Analyst capacity for our Simplification Releases, picking up
projects from initially receiving the requirements from the business
and following them through until go-live. I have completed the BA
Essentials ISEB course, and am very interested in furthering my
knowledge and understanding in this area.
Over the last 4 years, I was leading projects from a configuration
perspective, ensuring work is correctly allocated amongst members
of the team and satisfying all deadlines on time and to a high
quality.

Haskell functional programming language and database systems
design. I am also very capable using the Microsoft Suite of
applications, particularly Word, Excel, Visio and Powerpoint. I
completed my dissertation at University involving Epigram, a
functional programming language under development at
Nottingham involving reasoning about operational semantics of a
minimal language.
