Finnish lure giant Rapala VMC Corp is moving its entire Asian manufacturing operation from China to a new, state-of-the-art factory in Batam, Indonesia that employs over 700 workers. This significant move will shift production of lures under brands like Storm, Williamson, and Luhr Jensen to the new Indonesian factory. The senior executives in charge believe the new factory will allow them to benefit from lower costs, better intellectual property protection, and access to skilled local labor. The modern factory is expected to begin full production in 2015-2016 and become a global lure-making powerhouse.
