I have extensive experience in all aspects of electronic product design, including RF, logic,
analog, power systems, IC, EMC, low current and firmware. Since I have taken numerous
products from initial concept all the way into and beyond production, I have highly developed
skills of attention to detail, error-free designs, root cause analysis, debugging, self starting, and
precise documentation. My product design experience has included world-class, high-volume
inkjet printers as well as products that have included these wireless technologies : LTE, GPRS,
HSPA, CDMA, WiFi, Bluetooth and UWB. My peers regularly consult with me when trying to
solve difficult design issues and to debug problems that they cannot understand.

Principal Engineer – CalAmp Mobile Resource Management, Carlsbad, CA 2008 to present
Design of vehicle locating and tracking products using GPS, cellular and other wireless
technologies and of high-end Linux-based wireless routers. Helped evolve this division from one
or two products per year to platforms of dozens of products per year. Investigated and solved
many field failures of existing products and created new designs and new design rules to
eliminate these problems from future products. Created a new power architecture that enabled a
new product category – long life, battery-powered tracking products. Responsible for product
from design concept through schematic entry and validation and into production. Areas of
design include RF, analog, digital, and power systems.
Staff Applications Engineer – Staccato Communications, San Diego, CA 2006 to 2008
Primary applications engineer for Staccato’s second generation single-chip CMOS UWB chip.
Designed chip evaluation boards and reference design boards for PCI Express, SDIO and USB.
Evaluated chip design for low-power sleep capability and proposed changes for improvement.
Performed RF measurements and evaluated reference design RF performance. Wrote the
SC4500C detailed product specification and other customer application notes.
R&D Engineer/Scientist for wireless connectivity – Hewlett-Packard Vancouver Division 2000 to 2006
UWB Evaluated various UWB solutions, built UWB product demos, member of UWB selection team.
Editor for Ecma UWB standards 368 and 369 and ISO/IEC UWB standards 26907 and 26908.
Wireless Wireless connectivity hardware architect - responsible for the system level design of wireless
interfaces for HP inkjet printers. Technologies developed were Bluetooth, 802.11b, and 802.11g.

Electronic system architect and product designer - responsible for the system level electronic
design for many of HP’s inkjet printers, beginning with the original HP ThinkJet printer.
Extensive experience in EMC design and debug.
Designed multiple electronic tools for HP production lines. Designed custom functional and in-
circuit testers for entire products and for individual PC boards.
