Data Loggers - Measurements & Instrumentation EE3405.pptx
1.
Data Loggers
● It’sAn Application of Data Acquisition System.
● Basic Function is to Automatically record the various instruments readings
located at different plants.
● It Measures and Records the Data very quickly.
● Measurement Errors are Eliminated Completely
2.
Block Diagram ofData Logger
Basic Blocks of a Data Logger System:
1. Input Scanner 2.Signal Conditioner 3.A/D Converter 4.Recording system
5.Programmer
● The Data Logger Can measure Any Electrical Output from almost all the transducers. The input signals are fed to input
scanners. They are High Pressure Transducer Signals,Low level Thermocouple Signal
● They are Pneumatic Signals from Pneumatic Transducers, On-Off Signals from Relays or switches, etc…
● The Low dc level Signal gets amplified first at the Signal Amplifier and Conditioner block and fed into A/D converter
● The high level signals are directly fed to A/D and the Pneumatic and AC level signals are first converted into DC voltage level
and conditioned to get converted to Digital form. Thus it can be handled by the Data Logger
● Input Scanner Ensures that only one input is set at a time. The Converted Digital signal is now Recorded and Stored
● The programmer controls the sequence operation of various items of the logger.
3.
Advantages:
1. It canmeasure Output of any transducers
and Logs the value automatically.
2. It can detect if the output exceeds limit and
corrects if it exceeds.
3. It can record all or selected readings of
variety of output devices.
4. It can also pass the date to a Computer for
further processing.
Characteristics:
● Without disturbing process we can expand
the system based on our Needs. The
Expansion is very simple
● It has better reliability
● Accuracy is maintained Throughout the
process
● User interface is very easy, logical , Simple
and Hence easy to operate,Understand and
Expand
Applications:
● Weather Tracker
● Blood Pressure Monitors
● Smart Watches
Simply wherever Recording Required.
